eh, where did "the lanky northerner" (j3ned) come into the equation???
im not saying a serious N/A clio will match the clioTT in a straight line, im not THAT stupid!!!
the problem i found with the 1.2 16V engine is increasing the inlet length = less power
BUT the new inlet on the 04+ is MUCH shorter than the pre 04
as for noise, it wont make bugger all difference IMO

is that a brand new engine for £1200 + vat ? is that an engine from renault and if so does that come with a renault warranty ?
PM j3ned for details, as i said BRAND NEW CRATE ENGINE
HE HAS 40 in stock
or ring Specialist Breakers in...
exhaust ports are better on the mk1 172 engine, plus the box is much better too
although, cost wise would be similar
bondy, ill have a word with Yoz, he might be interested if its cheap
easiest way to remove it is to remove the front left wheel, then you can remove the front arch liner and gain acess easier
you will see a black tube with a flap inside it, remove this and chuck it in the nearest bin

a properly done inlet manifold can gain between 8-12bhp......SOLID.
including ECU work ben (you always forget that bit!!!)
how much is a PROPER one from you?? and i always get confused with this, but are we on about just inlet manifold...
twist and pull
i think, unless you mean the one thats connected to a black canister behind the passenger fog light, then its a pull jobbie (small button thingy to push in)
under bonnet temperatures are pretty high on 16V/Wiliams
Open filters such as K&N/PiperX/Green etc arent sheilded at all from heat, hot air contains less oxygen than cool air = less power
the OE airbox is infact a very good design, Hippys pink racer will be going back to original airbox with...
wouldnt bother touching the exhaust manifold, no need really
inlets however do need matching, as theyre SO crap in terms of casting differences
maybe 3bhp
