Nope dont mind :D
Its geared for a low top speed.... i think it would probably only get to 120. In 6th gear 60mph is at 4000rpm, and it should pull to 8k no problem.
In that vid I dont think it ever really went much above 5000rpm..... when it gets up to 7-8k then it really starts screaming.
yeeees, that was me. Well, its my dads car really but meh :/
Unfortunatly it decided to blow itself up after 3 events. We think that number 3 piston was starved of oil (last to be fed)... basically, big end bolt went, conrod puched two perfect holes in either side of the block, crank with lots...
I saw on a Laxus forum some American kid put a back to black type silicon tyre dressing on the tread of his tyres.....
.... and then wondered why he spun off the road in the wet.
twas very funny, he was even going to sue the tyre company cause he was convinced the tyres were faulty
Anyway, it wont just be the 172 engine with a turbo on. It will have lower compression, probably using dished and forged pistons....
My dad has actually seen one in the flesh; he says it was pretty tasty

If you hadnt noticed:
Clio 172 - Has approx 172 bhp
Megane 225 - Has approx 225 bhp
V6 255 - Has approx 255 bhp
Heres a hint: there is a clue in the name......
My Williams engined clio rally car revs right up to 8k if I let it.
It is basically standard... just different cams + a chip of some description.
(plus strange idling problem, and a dented bonnet due an barrel jumping out in front of me)
Jesus, it would be easier to get a turbo engine out of another car and make a custom bellhousing and engine mounts wouldnt it.
At least then it would blow itself to bits at the earliest opportunity
The part number for the 16V steering rack is different to the part number for the Williams rack.... does anyone know why this is.
It cant just be beacause of the minimal extra track width can it?
They are coilover arnt they?
if they are could someone please take a photo of one and send it to me. Looking desperately for some suspension that will survice on my rally car.
Especially need to know who think the piston body is and how strong/how the body is attached to the flange that...
It is just about finished, taking it for logbooking tommorrow.
A few more pics of the finished article at http://www.eroticon6.co.uk/index.php?page=evo3http://www.eroticon6.co.uk/index.php?page=evo3
It doesnt take more than a couple of minutes at 4k revs to make the exhaust manifold...
I dont know about the Clio Cups but the Clio Maxi used proflex suspension, if you are thinking of that youll want to budget for about £1000 a corner.
I would assume the the current S1600 Clio uses a similar setup, certinately similar price.
If anyone has any experience of Clio rally...
I dont know off hand, I can probably find out a rough price later.
We did buy the engine bits, a rolling shell, a bare shell and a 5 speed dog box at the same time as a job lot. Aswell as various blown up heads, pistons with holes in, and funny bits of aluminium etc.
I have no idea who made the air box, it came with all the bits we got when we bought the dissasembled engine. Whoever did the carbon fibre stuff was good though, even got a refelctive coated carbon fibre manifold heat shield.
It is pretty much done now yeah, seats are in (bar a seat bolt...
We were wondering why it sounded so loud and blowingly from underneath....
...finally realises there is still a hole in the exhaust from where the lambda sensor used to go...
Sounds much better now :)
My dad is actually going to be the driver, I will be taking over his *old* clio rally car, with more or less a standard williams engine and 5 speed dog box.
It is going to be mainly a tarmac car but it should beable to handle a little bit of loose.
Not doing any national...
Had it running briefly last night, just enough to make sure it started, idled and the gearbox worked.
Definitely doesnt sound like a normal clio.....
I did take some video, I may post it depending on quality and size. If it is big ill have to take it into work tomorrow to upload somewhere...
What sort of events are you going to do? Single venue/Multi use? Multi venue?
Our car is mainly going to be for tarmac single venue events although it should be able to handle a little more eough stuff. What suspension are you using, we have bent 3 struts in the last 3 events.
Produces 240bhp at 8500 rpm with peak torque of 217Nm.
It is basically the same spec as a Sodemo engine; throttle bodies, cosworth F1 pistons, steel crank, titanium valves etc, connected to a Sadev 6 speed sequential gearbox. Ive got a more full technical spec list somewhere and a graph of the...
Finally made a bit of progress on the car. Engine is in and currently doing wiring, fuel pipes and little fiddly bits.
Pictures so far linked below.
Any comments or questions just post them here. Ill try and keep this thread updated as much as possible...
It should be quite reliable hopefully, it should rev to 11-12k rpm with no problems and as we are keeping it to about 8k for max power and torque it shouldnt be overstressed.
The engine management/ecu is a Pectel system, now THAT is alot of money for a very small box.
Hopefully fixed the...
The radiator is a big aluminum one, the top of which fits in the slot you can see in the bottom of the airbox.
It is a sadev 6speed sequential box which we got from a spider cup car, modified by the addition of a LSD. Apparantly the gearbox should be good for 300bhp.
The engine isnt...
