I’ve got a 172 ph2, 85,000 miles.
I knew it was weeping gearbox oil from the selector seals but the box has always been fine - never had a reason to worry. It’s not really been used properly in a good year since before Covid, so I decided to top up the oil. I found the plug on the front of the...
My aircon never worked properly until the roof sensor was reconnected. Don’t know why. But the display would show the temp changing, but it never changes the temp of the air coming out.
I've looked into wheel weights massively and there's no hard an fast equation to work out the equivalent sprung/unsprung weight relation... BUT... 4.7kg a corner is a huge saving! The car will be transformed!
Looks great by the way. When I was shopping for my Clio I was never keen on this...
As others have said cobalt should be your next port of call (Dormer call it HSSE). Alternatively something with a titanium nitride coating (some variation of TiAlN, TiNAl, AlTiN etc, all just variations of the same gold coating) would help as well.
I sell a lot of Dormer through work, and it’s...
Does it only happen when drilling specific materials? E.g, you're always drilling stainless?
Are you currently just using bog standard HSS drills?
Presuming you're on a bench drill, not by hand?
Has anyone put a heatshield on the brake pipe that goes across the bulkhead? If there is supposed to be one there its fallen off lol.
I've had to replace the pipe and don't fancy doing it again.
Nothing major, I was planning a velcro sleeve type like below, I've not got a turbo or anything to...
Does he take commissions? Because that 5 looks wild.
It’s not so much that it’s overly shouty as an electric car, I think it’s quite restrained in that area. It’s just it’s a concept car, so they’re always a bit off-piste.
Coming up to my 3rd year with Reis insuring my lightly modified Lexus GS430 daily. Great company to deal with and considering speaking to them when the Clio renewal comes round.
I like both, but I think in a lineup of 911s I'd prefer to have the ambers and stand out a bit. But I'm getting proper nostalgic for 90s cars at the minute!
Similarly I was a bit bemused when I viewed a car with "full service history" that just had 8 stamps in the book. No details of work done. It could have had everything, it might not. No way of checking unless I called the dealer, which wasn't possible as it was about 9pm
I have that exact same Personal wheel. Best thing I’ve ever bought. Smashes Momo, Sparco etc out of the water.
This is exactly my plan, an early 996. I’m just scared of the horror stories.
Also, for those of you put off by the interior, I presume you haven’t seen this one:
Bit of a bump-from-the-dead for this one, but THANK YOU.
I've been going through a similar issue with mine. Its only a weekend/track toy, so its been a case of, "save up, replace a few parts, try it again, problem still there" repeat. Then you forget about the car for a while, go on holiday...
I saw this on Facebook a few days ago, I'll be interested to see the bodywork they plan to use to cover the entire length of a gearbox behind the rear axle. It could end up looking weird.
The issue with harnesses and no cage is that in a rollover, where a 3 point ordinary seatbelt will allow your body to be forced over and towards the centre of the car (the shoulder with no seatbelt over it), harnesses with no cage means you'll be held nicely in your seat while your neck is...
This thread has taken a turn for the better! Seeing as we're all chatting cages, and the OP has buggered off, does anyone know if its feasible to extend a SW Motorsport bolt in rear cage into a full cage? Or is it not cost effective?
Presumably the fact it would be a full cage and also bolt in...
So why do you want harnesses then? Do you like not being able to lean forward to see at junctions? Or reach the radio? Or will you leave the shoulder straps loose, and then have worse safety than before?
Sounds like its for posing. Cable tie them to the rear seat brackets and just use your...
See I wondered about this, but if it was dry and I was planning a spirited run, I'd use the Federals on my pretty track wheels. I don't want my normal everyday tyres to be better than my "playing out tyres"
At the moment I have ditchfinders on my standard wheels, and 595RSR on my Team Dynamics Pro Race track wheels. These are literally for driving to the shops & to stand it on something over winter.
When I had branded tyres on the road wheels I drove to track days etc on them, but the cars barely...
I can get Mitutoyo 6” digital calipers for £84. As accurate as you’ll ever need. Industry standard.
Alternatively Moore & Wright are cheaper and almost as good.
True, but at £1 per inch plus VAT you can throw £20 per tyre refit and removal and still save money over some other places. But like I said, my wheels were brand spanking new, albeit in four different colours (Team Dynamics eBay special :D)

Cheers Rich! To be fair that’s the exact one I was looking at. I was thinking oil temp will give an indication of water temp anyway.
I’m tempted with the SPA one but would prefer it if it was a bit more subtle. Could fit it in the drinks holder I suppose.
Just wondering if anyone finds it useful having aftermarket water temp, oil temp & oil pressure gauges on their weekend toy/track car?
Obviously it’s helpful having an idea of what your engine is doing, but I haven’t seen a great deal of folk with them. Unless I haven’t been looking hard enough...
