Brilliant! That's what I wanted to hear, cheers.
I was thinking of running an PAS fluid cooler like an oil cooler with the take-off from the low pressure line, would that eliminate the need for running lower level? Or even add another layer of safety?
Clio 172 Ph2.
I'm very much of the mindset of "If it ain't broke, just enjoy using it". The PAS pump ran dry on a track day and is now noisy even when refilled. Did an oil change the other week and noticed the AC rad flapping around. Figured that explained why it didn't go as cold as it used to...
If you're having to suggest that to the garage, I'd second taking it somewhere else than the place that did the alignment and were stumped by the results.
Where in the country are you?
Seeing as the Nissan pump above is out of stock and hard to find on eBay, I've been looking at other Clio specific ones. A lot of saying "non aircon cars only".
Is there a difference in the pumps or is this just an error?
Thanks, I've had both those on my watch list but the second one is out of stock, and the first one I've not much confidence in, as Beauvais Motorsport said.
Onto Autodoc!
Perfect thanks! I'm up to speed now I think lol. That's where I'd planned to mount it as well.
Next question is.... Are the pumps still available? If not, can you rebuild them?
I was considering a power steering cooler after it happened actually. Good to know I wasn't miles off with that thought, but I want to ask a really stupid question:
Obviously in the case of an oil cooler, it's fitted into a complete circuit and its pumped round and circulated etc.
Does a power...
As above really.
Boiled the power steering fluid on track last summer and ended up bursting the pressure sensor. The pump pretty much ran dry, and was driven about 10 miles until it was refilled with new fluid (i.e. I drove it to Halfords, not 10 miles on track). Also, because I had many many...
Interesting! Mine has a rather noisy PS pump after boiling the fluid last year at Llandow. But it made that noise before, after, and even when the fluid was drained & replaced.
I've had the same issue for a while and have been trying to fix it for a while now. I would get the creaking, but I would also get a metallic snap/clunk when turning at slow speeds/stationary.
The track rod ends are fine, and its been passing MOTs all the time. I'd thought it may be subframe...
Just to throw my opinion into the mix, Phoenix Motorsport in Accrington setup my Impreza 100 years ago and were decent. And a Lotus specialist. So they're used to light cars that keep breaking.
Another thing to bear in mind is on the older 172 & 182 models is that some parts are starting to get hard to find, and are no longer made.
Not the end of the world, but something to bear in mind. I love my 172 to bits. Started off as a totally standard car and upgraded bits when I felt they...
Bought a new sensor, fitted it. Haven't moved out of the garage but the code reader is still showing the steering angle sensor value as being -80something thousand degrees.
Is there something else that may be causing it? The number looks too close to what it was last time to be a coincidence...
I love my Ph2 172, but more and more parts of getting harder to get hold of.
I had a right carry on trying to source an ABS sensor, likewise with the bulkhead brake pipe in the engine bay. Now it needs a steering angle sensor and I'm finding the same.
There are a few out there in the Renault...
I fitted new Cup shocks with the current Apex lowering springs I had. Planned to replace them but after I’d stripped the car they performed a lot better. Before the car was stripped the Apex springs weren’t great and I understood the criticisms. But with less weight in the rear they behaved...
Just wondering what everyone is doing regarding sourcing steering angle sensors etc now they're getting like hens teeth.
Are they still made at all? Will one from another car fit? Car is a Ph2 172.
Thanks all! Will keep at it. I took it out tonight for twenty minutes and it was sweet as a nut.
The tube in using is maybe 5mm OD so no chance it’s blocking the way.
