How often should this be changed on a mk1 172? The car has done 60,000. Should it have had a new belt at 36,000, then 72,000 next?
How much work is involved? (time), what kind of cost???
Cheers.
My steering has gone stiff on my mk1 172. It has covered 58,000 miles. Anyone experienced this? Is it the pump? Belt? I have checked the pas fluid level and it's fine? Help?
I have a mate who is interested in buying my 172. It is a mk1, 2000 registered on an X plate. Colour is black. Covered 57,000 miles with full service history. In excellent condition. Have replaced the interior door handles and steering wheel which were tatty. 6 months tax, 12 months mot. 2 new...
No decat, was removed for mot and cat put on. No aftermarket exhaust either. Hasn't been plugged into a Renault computer yet. Trying to avoid it due to cost.
My car failed it's mot yesterday, had a diagnostic test done today and apparently it was the lambda sensor. Tested the emissions with new lambda and still CO level was far too high. My mechanic spoke to Renault and they think it has been remapped in the past? Could this be the case? If so, how...
Had a new lambda today and the CO level has dropped to 2.8, still way over the tolerance level of 0.5 allowed at normal idle for the mot. HC's dropped as well from 600 odd to 300. So it's not the lambda. Renault seem to think it might have had the ecu tampered with (chipped)?
Just removed a Janspeed decat from my mk1 172, sounded great and performance to match. Only removed it for the mot. Not putting it back on as I will be selling the car very soon, so I'll sell it to you if you like? The engine management light didn't come on with me.
My mk1 172 failed it's mot today. Just had a new cat fitted 12 months ago, so I don't think it's the cat. The car passed the emissions test at fast idle but failed on it's CO emissions while idle. Tolerance is up to 0.5 and mine was 5.06. Took the car to my mechanic and we tested the emissions...
I thought phase 1 clios were 1990-94, 2's were 94-96, 3's were 96-98, 4's were 98-01 and 5's were 01 onwards?
Anyway, how do I go about removing the top dash on my 2000 model 172?
I don't know but the cylinder head was definitely off! They haven't charged me for all their extra work, so it's their loss in some respects, however, if they didn't change the cambelt, gasket, bolts it could be a serious loss for me!
They charged me 1.5 hrs labour plus approx £70 for the pipe. There's no way they replaced the gasket and bolts for what they charged. Unless they did and didn't tell not to lool like dicks!
It wasn't knocking against the heat shield, some crossmember I think? not too sure as I'm far from technically minded! Day contacted me and said there was a differnece in length and sent a photo. Anyone else know anything????
The pipe replaced was a return pipe for the pas, cost about £70 from Renault. They definitely removed the cylinder head as the piston chambers were stuffed with rags when I called to see how they were progressing, they even told my they had to remove the cylinder head, alothough they are denying...
My loacal garage removed the cylinder head to replace a pas pipe and adjust the engine mounting, there ws no need for this at all! They didn't replcae the bolts or head gasket! What problems am I likely to encounter now? Sholud I demand they replace the gasket, bolts and cambelt??? Is it my word...
A local garage replaced the catalytic converter on my mk1 172 recently. Mine has the one lambda sensor, while later mk1 172's have two lambda sensors. The garage fitted a two lambda senor cat on mine, which I think is slightly longer as it pushed the whole exhaust system back and mate it rattle...
Yes it was the aluminum part of the pipe which had a hole from rubbing against something, they took the engine head off!!! The aprt was £70 and I checked with Renault, this is correct.
My local garage fitted replaced the PAS pipe on my mk1 172 recently. I have received my bill but am unhappy. Can anyone tell me how long a job this is and what is needed to be done to fit the pipe. Did they need to remove anything in the engine bay?
