Hmmm not sure whether the heatshield is in place, I would like to think it is! Forgive my ignorance, but can you see the starter motor/heatshield from looking down into the engine bay - it's at the back right? (I'm a complete novice when it comes to mechanical stuff 😁) I'll have a look tomorrow.

Is there any known design 'issue' with the 182 starter motor, or its location or something? Yesterday mine wouldn't start, the AA helped me bump start so does look like another starter motor has failed on me. That's 2 that have gone now in the 3 years I've owned it - with the latest only being...

Where is your lacquer peel out of interest? I have some right on the boot - seems really obvious and looks awful to me so really wanna get it sorted, so interested to know how well yours gets repaired. I think Goole is probably a bit too far of a trek for me though, just wary of whoever does it...

Anyone recommend any decent bodyshops vaguely near Beds/Bucks to get a few bits done. My 182 is LY which I've heard is hard to work on, is that true? Got a scuff on the wing mirror, 'scratch' on the door and some laquer damage on the rear. Possibly easy things to deal with but I'm not that way...

Has anyone got the Ktec 182 front splitter, show me a picture (not the carbon one)? Quite hard to tell how it looks on their website. Is it worth the £100+ or better to just get a Fabia one for more like £20?

Looks great! What options has this got? There's another LY one for sale near me, but visually it doesn't look as good and I'm not up to speed on the different option combos with these.

Saw a phase 1 172 in very dark blue coming down the A4146 Leighton Buzzard bypass earlier today. Didn't catch the reg though. Anyone on here? Do love the front end of the phase 1s, wish they'd combined it with the 182 back end 💭

Mine is still going strong, even if my wallet isn't! 🤪 Maybe it's just my area, but don't seem to see that many other 1*2s around on the roads these days, let alone LY. Would love to know how many are actually left! 3 years of ownership now after purchasing from @Jack!

Battery should definitely be fine, just had a new one and alternator. No starting issues at all of late until today.

Any resolution on this @Tom Clarke? Mine is doing exactly the same today - and has done a couple of times before. Previously it's magically come back to life (last time after an hours wait and predictibly literally seconds before the AA arrived). Doing my head in!

More than likely! The colour's not very subtle :D Although looking on here there used to be another LY in LB which used to park in Tesco car park a lot...

Hi all, My 182 that I've owned since July has always been looked after by Rentech (@Mike@Rentech presumably), and is now due cambelt etc. Problem is I live in Leighton Buzzard so taking it down to Portsmouth is a bit of a ball ache and my Mrs thinks its mental to go all that way 'just for a car...

Yes it comes up automatically as a new source - plays as though it's a CD changer (with only ever 1 track), and, no, it is literally just plug and play. Don't know about your last line - I just squeezed the cable down the side of the head unit, pretty untidy I suppose but doesn't really bother me.
