Touch up kit - what am i doing wrong

I've had good results using a toothpick to apply the paint for small scratches and chips. Might be worth a go and there will be less to rub down when dried.

    Removing seat rails?

Just a thought. If your using a spirit level make sure the car is parked on level groud. Type of thing I would do lol.

    1.6 power gains?

Am I missing something here? If it is the valve stem oil seals just change them. I am thinking there must be more issues if a new engine is being considered as more cost effective though. As said already if you want power a 1*2 is the best bet, it's all done for you by Renault already. If...

    Engine trouble and crap mpg

IIRC the light will turn off after half a dozen fault free trips. If not renault will be able to do it for you.

1.5 DCI, 94k miles, cambelt change - water pump as well?

Thanks Mick, appreciate your advice. I am quite competant but as you say crank pully is likely not keyed, and having to lock everything in place, making sure the tension is spot on, getting the pump off, little room to work in etc is just asking for trouble with no experience of doing s belt on...

1.5 DCI, 94k miles, cambelt change - water pump as well?

Thanks for the input. The quote was from an established Renault dealer so will be using genuine renault parts. I will have a think on it. Cheers

1.5 DCI, 94k miles, cambelt change - water pump as well?

Hey I have been quoted off my local Renault garage in Middlesbrough £299.00 to change the cam belt aux belt. This does'nt include the water pump though. At 94k miles it would be sensible to change the pump as well I think. Sounds like a no brainer but I wanted some feedback on what you might...

    Scratch on the clio :(

Best over reaction to a scratch thread I have seen. No need for paint, just need someone who has the right cutting compound and a bit of skill to get rid of that, no worries. Hope you got your MOT by the way.

The American Dream - My Knight Rider KITT Project :-)

Loving this, I am old enough to remember fondly watching 80's shows like Knightrider, fall guy, chips and dukes of hazard etc. This car is epic and you deserve a pat on the back for sticking with it. Keep at it! You are nearly there now, and yes sod the neighbours - they will have to just get...

The 'What MPG Do You Get?' Thread

Mk2 DCI 68, between 65-75mpg. Low and slow but I can not complain to be fair.

    Redex fuel treatment

Depends on how bad things were before to what results you get. Worth a go every 6 months or so, for me anyway.

    Clio now starting intermittently

Never had this problem myself but have read about the earth strap to the gearbox fraying most of the way through so sometimes it is a good enough connection to allow current to turn the starter and other times not. If you remove passenger wheel it should be visible behind the splash guard.

    what colour goes with maroon?

I was expecting a punchline from your thread title there lol! As above anthracite or possible a nice bright sparkly silver would be my 2 choices as well. You are a bit limited with maroon unfortunately - just a thought though, I wonder what gold would look like?

    Poxy clio

Just a thought mate, have you checked tyre pressures recently at all? Also miss matched tyres (a good brand and a cheap brand)will not be doing you any favours. Why not try your spare wheel in place of the cheap tyre before you take the rear dampers off?

    My DCI80

TDC sensor stops it starting but the engine will turn over on the key, battery is self explanatory (as it has hels a charge seems to be okay), alternator must be working because you have some charge in your battery after 5+starts and using the car. My bet is on a faulty earth from body to...

Coilys, reckon these'll do the job? :)

They look like TA Technix/Raceland/Rockor (same stuff) which can be had for a little bit less than that advert. Best measure the strut bolt spacing is 58mm on your car. I have them on my dci with modest lowering and they are great for the money. If you start going really low they are bouncy...

    Relocating engine fusebox (UPC)?

Would be much better idea to work on making the stock install more resistive to water, you are looking for a headache re locating something like that.

    Apex -60mm Shocks and springs

I have these on my 1.2 16v. Transformed the handling. Can get tiresome on 1hr plus journeys though. Car feels firm and direct with them compared to standard. I have a slight knock from one of the rear shocks though over ripply undulations but nothing to worry about. It is worth drilling out your...

    Unknown engine power issues...

Could be that you are running rich, and, as you cruise (lifting your foot off a bit to steady the speed) the mixture becomes leaner and you feel the car accelerate because it's getting the correct/better mixture. This could be because the accelerator jet in the carb is worn, your float height is...
