    iOllieSM's new car :)

Possibly Eibach prolines as I think they are black but would have eibach written on them somewhere. Looks about standard height to me, most I'd do would be some sportline springs and make sure its minty fresh underneath! Great car!

    iOllieSM's new car :)

Nice car Ollie. Will keep an eye out for you! Pretty sure standard sport springs are just black and the rears have pink and white paint dots round the bottom. What colour are they on yours? Red are eibach sportlines or mark fish ones, and yellow are likely Apex.

    Spring rates

1000lb front and 400lb rear iirc.

    Balance Motorsport rear ARB bushes

Try superflex, them did some decent bushes for a friends one off project. I have linked the "universal bushes" page http://www.superflex.co.uk/categories.php?cat=73

    Pending suspension refresh, any pointers?

I agree with this but the poor guy has already bought them! Lol. I shore tested the renault arb bushes and wishbone bushes on new arms and they are about 60 shore. Quite hard for oe when you consider powerflex purple stuff is about 75, and if you look at the design of the renault bush there is...

Having problems locationg worn wheel bearing, need advice!

Best way Ive found to check is the wheel play test, although the brake caliper stops you moving the wheel. Its a bit of a faff but almost always finds a dodgy bearing. Remove the caliper, tie out of the way, refit wheel, then test for play. If its only noisy and you have done hardly any distance...

    This needs replacing right?

Get a big hairy screwdriver between then bar and chassis and see if you can move the bar. If the movement is excessive then its knackered but tbh they look ok. ARB bushes start looking too big for the bar when they have given up. For vagueness check tracking then track rods/rack mounts.

    Pending suspension refresh, any pointers?

^^ Sound advice. Also be careful with your abs sensors as they probably wont come out of your hub without breaking them and they are about £60 quid each. Easy enough to work round but keep and eye on them. Don't really matter what order you do it in.

    R888's the wrong way

I have raced on a set of A048r's the wrong way round before. Absolutely fine in the dry. And to be honest they had more grip for the first couple of laps. Wouldn't want to risk it If there was any chance of rain though! Getting back to pits even after a sprinkle could be exciting.

    182 Trophy damper refurb?

I would go to cornering force purely because the guy knows his stuff, has very good customer service and the cost of the refurb which is cheaper than BG, includes sand blasting and powder coating. No doubt BG refurbs will be top quality also.

    Quick Turn In Qustion

Ditto. And also toe out or a larger offset wheel.

    182 Trophy damper refurb?

Personally I dont think it needs doing that often. They do slowly deteriorate and most seem to give up after around 4 years. I have just had mine done (£400 in total from cornering force) and they awesome now. Couldnt believe the difference in the feel of the car. On normal runs down the...

    Toyo r888

p.s. its always worth an email to camskill and see if they will knock any off for you. I emailed when I was after a seasons worth of yoko's for my old race car and they sent me a discount code for them!

    Whiteline ARB worth buying ??

Yea agreed, I noticed a difference on track but would say its not worth it on the road. It can be useful after fitting coilovers etc and can be handy to find any possible defects with your suspension that you wouldnt have noticed but for your average joe on his back lane blat home from work its...

Suspension guru's needed, stanced boys need not apply

Hmm you could try and swing it, as technically it isnt against regs, a ball joint extender (like the one off ebay) is still the same type of fitting used by the manufacturer, i.e. a pinch bolt, but it's not really within the spirit of regs ;)

Suspension guru's needed, stanced boys need not apply

Interesting stuff, thanks for your input frenchthing. I thought that looked like a 106/saxo set up. Do you have any pictures of it assembled? Would be interesting to see how much movement you have managed to get as it seems that these spherical bearings don't seem to have more than 15 degrees...

Suspension guru's needed, stanced boys need not apply

Anti dive/squat took me a while to get my head around, its relatively simple in principle but I wouldn't have any idea of how to design it into a chassis, only tune it a little :) I can work all this stuff out but when it comes to putting it on a car it normally gets a bit more Heath Robinson...

Does no one use camskill? I find their prices most competitive.

Track tyres 195/205 40/45 profile for max of £300?

I'd go for Yokohama AD08's, Toyo R1r's seem to go well but not had any experience myself and as a more budget option Federal 595 RSR. Realistically get the best tyres you can afford whether they be road or track biased and if you do any track days avoid trying to tear them off the rims and give...

    What wheel spacer are best

Have a search mate, lots of threads on spacers. Most go for FK as they tend to be cheapest although aren't as well made as Eibach or H+R.

Suspension guru's needed, stanced boys need not apply

Here is a picture of the hubs together on Ian Speed's thread about his Clio cup. Its not a brilliant angle but you can clearly see how much bigger the hub is. http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?540049-newbie-with-a-clio-cup-race-car/page28 Main thing I noticed from this view is the...

Suspension guru's needed, stanced boys need not apply

Thanks for that Mr. Suede! Very useful pic. Perfect to get an idea of how much you need to adjust the track rod height relative the the control arm. Only trouble with standard Clio hubs is the slotted ball joint. I wouldn't have thought it will offer enough clamping force to resist the leverage...

    AVO coilovers available for 172/182/trophy!

^^ Those are good for the price, but performance wise won't be as good as the AVO's.

Suspension guru's needed, stanced boys need not apply

In regards to the standard top mounts, they aren't as bad a everyone thinks. The main things they affect is camber recover,y and the instant centre as the car moves about. Solid mounts come into there own in competition as it makes setting camber and other geo changes and their effects more...

    AVO coilovers available for 172/182/trophy!

I know a few people that run AVO coilovers on various cars and they always have positive things to say. I have heard of a couple of small issues with manufactured kits but they were sorted with out problem. Would be interesting to hear about thier development etc. Best bet if your interested is...

    Spacers stuck on?

If they are faulty or the wrong size then you can't be responsible for damaged in thier removal. Heat probably won't help. Get your self a breaker bar!
