the 172 scraped through it's MOT last w/e as the tyres are on the wear indicators
currently it's wearing Exaltos which are ok but nothing special
can anyone recommend a tyre, I'm not after a super sticky qualification tyre but something with a reasonable wear/grip level
and to add insult to injury the Bosch 4 pin is available from GSF but my 3 pin Magnetti Marelli on is dealer supply only - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........
anyone know if carb cleaner will do the trick?
so what's the big lump of metal between the hose from the air filter and the top of the engine/plenum called?
in any case, I need the ICV and renault want £280 + the vodka and tonic for it
I need a idle control valve on the 172 so I popped to the local Eurocar Parts on Saturday morning to find them out of stock. German and Sweedish's shelves are equally bare so with open wallet surgery looming I headed to the main dealer.
me - I'd like an idle control valve
dealer - sucks air...
besides as soon as you start sticking milage on the car you knacker it's resale valuehave a look around as there's some real bargains to be had - picked up my 172 last week for £3.5k with FRSH and 65k milesjust done the timing belt service and a few other bits and bobs, will be looking to get...
Just got my 172 back from a timing belt service - £££ - and the throtle idle valve is kapputcan they be taken apart and rebuilt or is it a case of handing over the remaining w/e beer tokens to Eurocar parts?in the unlikely even someone's got one spare I'm more than willing to be their lifelong...
I did in the end, I was accelerating at the time and only noted when I came off the gas that the throttle was wide open
by the time I'd figured that out and after trying and failing to pull back a floor hinged pedal with my foot, I'd added another 20/30mph to my speed
Car is booked in for a service and cambelt change later this week - how much do Renault want? the wags
£600 to do a cam belt is taking the :censored: IMO. Luckily I've got a good indy who'll do it for 1/3 of that.
I'll get my man to have a look at the throttle cable then - no doubt...
anyone had this problem?
Only happens on a very light throttle and it revs at 2.5k, give it some beans and it revs back to idle
Can I lubricate the throttle cable or is it a strip out and replace job?
TIA
