But the rev limit is reduced to like 6.8k not 2.8k If it is struggling to 2.8k then something isn't right imo... you can't possibly call that abusing it. What would happen if you lived near a motorway and needed to go on it straight away, you would be stuffed if it wouldn't go above 2.8k

I've tried scratch X and had no joy with it at all on my black car. I've tried applying it with a foam pad and with a MF towell but it doesn't seem to do anything at all... not really sure if i'm doing something wrong. A good polish and wax normally hides most of it though.

I think people pay too much attention to the onboard MPG reading. Mine consistently reads around 37mpg with a combination of sensible driving and some less than sensible driving ;) I've just done a manual calculation and my REAL mpg is closer to 26mpg. I once hit 50mpg on a 15 mile trip...

I don't think it's related to the aux belt. When I had it done the part for the Aux belt didn't come in time so they just did the cambelt and I took it back a couple of days later to have the aux done... and it was doing it before the Aux was done. ginna - I don't know if i can get into leeds...

Yes under hard acceleration, I don't know about going through slowly actually, i've not tried that. I've obviously been keeping the revs down since I first noticed it to try and avoid/minimise any damage... I can go give it a try later though.
