I just got myself a Pivot (Jap brand) Gear Shift Light with control unit, now I know it can be hooked up either by just plugging it into the cigarette lighter and it calculates the revs by the current, or you can hook it up to the TA wire for a more precise indication. The problem is I have no...
I have tried the H&R coilover kit with Bilstein shocks on a Mk2 172, to be honest I didnt think much of it because it almost felt like a driving sedan, the only advantage is you can lower it more than just a shocks and spring kit, the responds was sluglish and the springs are too soft, something...
Personally I wouldnt use 6X9s, as you only really need "filler" sound comming from the rear, a good mid range in the OE speaker housing is enough.. unless you want to show off your ICE rather than listening to it?!? Most of the Hi and Mids should come from the front like your Hi Fi at home.
I also changed my head unit recently because of the same reason... IT"S CRAP!!!Had add the amp and sub etc with the OE head unit and speaker wire to RCA convertors from the head to amp but the signals were unclear and the sound was sh_t, shopped around and got a 24 bit JVC KD-SH909R instead of...
3 pairs, 1 for the fronts, 1 for the rears and 1 for the Sub. I customed made a rear floor panel with the Soundstream 5 channel amp, Cap and fuse box built in, and made a sub box for my 10" JL, got really high from the glue when I was carpeting the pieces, anyway, replaced all the wiring with...
Dont get me wrong, I love Alpine, but I needed a silver face HU because I drive a MK1 and the dash is silver where the HU goes. and the JVC was a bargin @ half the price of the Alpine!
too late, got the JVC and putting it in on the weekend.. I was thinking Nak but they only have 2 RCA channel outs, I need 6. Dont like sony or Kenwood, Alpine or pioneer cost too much compared to what I paid for the JVC.
Oh, and it was the fuse, cheers Frosty, everything is working perfectly now.
Thanks people, I believe the KD-SH909 is the best buy for what its worth, everyone know the Alpine is better but it also cost an arm and a leg, the JVC has 6 channel RCA outs, 24 bit DAC, 4V signal out, MP3...etc... etc, and it only costed me HK$2080. Im putting it in on the weekend and cant wait!
Forget the bonnet release cable, the hole will not be big enough to squeeze a flys dick into it, let alone a 0 gauge cable! What you want to do is jack the front left of the car so you can access the mud guards above the wheel, pop it open and youll see a rubber grummet, make a hole in the...
Hi, I just fitted a 5 channel amp in my 172 a couple weeks ago and things are starting to go wrong... first the remote for the head unit died, I measured it from the back of the unit and there was no current comming from the unit, so I hooked it up to another wire and now it works, but the HU...
Im using APEX springs with OE shocks and to be honest it is a very harsh/bumpy :( ride unless you drive on a track most of the time then its great! Just tested the H&R coilovers a m8 got for his 172, gave it a spin around and you really feel the difference, but it cost too much! I might just get...
hi there, I got the pics no problems, Im getting a new boot floor made out of MDF to mount my amp/cap/fusebox and the sub Im planning to put where the spare tyre is, with the sub facing up (dont worry, Itll be protected) and the boot space will remain more or less the same.
Oh, what a surprise, youre in Perth??? Im Aussie too, from Melbourne!!!
Tell me, how does your 172 run in Summer? Does it overheat?
Another thing, I was planning to mount the amp, cap and fuse box in a custom box made from MDF, and then mount the whole thing on the back seat, question is I...
