I'm responsible for one of the Cups competing at the weekend :-) Drove it there with my 2 children, a 4-man tent and the kitchen sink. Cracking weekend of sport and had some fun clocking a 48.18 sec climb on the Sunday. The car has a sports cat, matched inlets, a JMS/Henk remap and a v6 air box...
Quick update on events entered/planned:
Wiscombe Hillclimb 14 & 15 May (Dave Norman also entered in a Clio on Sunday - which is great)
Castle Combe Dick Mayo Sprint 25 June
Loton Park, August 14
Wiscombe Hillclimb 3 & 4 September
Thanks for the replies.
I've been running list 1b at ASWMC events for a while in the series production class. I believe the MSA has now permitted 1a and 1b - so this brings the rest of the country in line with our championship:
Wheels and tyres
11.6.1. Deleted.
11.6.2. Except for Period...
Advice needed...
Have a pair of r888 in soft compound in 195x50x15 - bought off eBay and in good nick.
Need another pair - cannot find/order in this size and compound due to lack of availability.
Found a set in 205x50x15....
So I thought about using the 195s at the rear and the new 205s...
Thanks for posting the April 2006 VOSA article. My Cup was initially 'failed' due to low rear brake effort. Once I faxed the report through it prompted the tester to call VOSA who explained things. I've 30% going both rear discs fwiw. Cheers. Dan
Aiming for May 21/22 Wiscombe - Castle Combe Sprint in June (Bristol Motor Club Centenary celebration weekend) + possible Mamhead (Torquay MC) + 5 Clubs Wiscombe 3-4 Sep. Maybe a few more if time + funds allow...
I hillclimb my Cup. Looking forward to a few outings this year in the South West region having had a year off. Let us know if this is your backyard.
Just back from JMS having upgraded the few mods I had on the motor... just getting the blog going...www.autosportdiaries.com/blog

Nice one. Yup - A3 - it looks like you'll wee on my times once you get hold of the softer compound rubber :-) Gotta say it will give you at least 1.5 sec. Not bad over 1/2 mile. I'm hoping to do more events in 2011 as I've taken an enforced sabbatical this year due to a house extension. I'll...
I've had my Cup since 2006, and it had already been lightly tweaked by GDI, courtesy of the previous owner (John Brewster/Redditch). Sensible mods and the main reason why I went for this motor.
It has the GDI Viper inlet package, manifold matching, sports cat and an SMT-6 chip.
I use the car...
Mmm. I'm going to use soft compound V70a during the summer - but not yet totally decided on the camber adjustment as the car will remain on the road throughout the year.
Track - hill climbs/sprints. Added stability on cornering is the primary reason for the adjustment - by maximising tyre contact on the tarmac (at least through the wheels taking the most punishment through the corner). Supposed to make a good bit of difference.
I'd like to have 2 degrees of negative camber at the front. Is this a straightforward adjustment on a 172 Cup or is there more involved?
Anyone recommend a good place to get this done within Thames Valley area (would probably combine this with a service to make it worth while)?
Cheers
Dan
