Car sat still over winter for some months, now it doesn't start any more.
New battery and new TDC sensor fitted - no spray coming out of injectors.
Fuel was squirting out of the fuel line when I tried cranking with the fuel line disconnected, so I assume the fuel pump is still working.
Tried...
Currently having a misfire where the power loss is perhaps 30-40% - I can still get up to 150-160km/h on the highway but not much higher, there is the characteristic "motorbike" sound, and the fuel consumption is huge.
Spark plugs, leads and coilpack are just over a year old.
Hooked up an OBD...
Woke up early on Sunday, noticed it was great driving weather so I headed over to the 'Ring. Sat with 2 awesome drivers and managed to improve a bit myself.
Those 2 drivers were xthilox and yotah1 (their youtube usernames). xthilox has done 8:18 in a Clio 200 Cup and close to 8:00 in his Megane...
My 172 ph1 has a weird issue. I suspect it's the coilpack connector that comes from the ECU, or one of the 2 wires that are connected to that connector/clip.
Sometimes my car would go to 3 cylinders. This can often be solved just be a restart which resets the ECU. But sometimes I have to wiggle...
Best video is probably this one - amazing CLS AMG that threw off a huge amount of sparks, and me almost getting run off the road
Laps in the wet, 3:25ish on the 2nd lap - last time I was at Spa was 3 years ago, back then I couldn't drive, and did a 3:35 with a Z4 3.0i, in the dry.

We all know there's the whiteline rear anti roll bar, which I have fitted, but why has there never been an option of fitting thicker front anti roll bars? Yes some body roll is well and good but once on semi slick tires the body roll is just massive, and really makes quick direction changes a...
Had a misfire issue which I solved by changing plugs, leads and coilpack about 6 months ago.
This weekend at the Ring it came back, but strangely enough was never while I was on track during my 22 laps, but often some time after coming off, or after the car had stood still for a while.
I...
In short, if you overtighten the nuts of the bracket holding down the bushes of the anti roll bar, it becomes really difficult for the anti roll bar to move, and it won't work properly.
I received the bar around 3 months ago and I couldn't be bothered with crawling under my car to install it...
Thought I'd change the track rod end myself and it's been a bit of a nightmare.
To start with the small nut on the vertical axle was so stuck the whole axle+ball was rotating with it, had to file down the sides of that axle so I could hold it still with a spanner to get the nut off. Already 3...
Got Harry's Laptimer to work this past week or so, and for the first time I find out the fastest point of the track is bottom of Foxhole (208km/h at 2:42) and not the approach to Schwedenkreuz (201km/h at 2:07).
Speed and acceleration overlay trails the video by around 5s.
Zandvoort trackday by Gran Tursimo Events was really good.
My Clio really did not fit in well with all the expensive cars present. The next cheapest car was a E46 M3 on R888s, driven by an Englishman who at first sight was Hugh Grant, but actually was just some bloke that has been in amateur...
Same thickness once up to temperature, 0w40 is less thick for cold starts (where most of the engine wear occurs), why keep using 5w40 when there's 0w40?
I had them fitted 2 years ago but have no idew whether the garage did the job properly.
Don't really know how to check tbh. Is it something I can check without having another garage dismantle the suspension?
There's also a soft bang in the suspension during warmer months at low speed under...
My car has been misfiring a lot lately, sometimes it gets so bad that there's loss of power as well.
When there is loss of power the engine sounds slightly different and fuel use goes up a lot. It's not really possible to accelerate much when it happens, not even when I shift down a gear.
A...
Static drop is the distance that your wheel moves when the suspension is unloaded, like when the car is on a lift, and when the car's sat on the ground.
Measuring the static drop will tell you the suspension frequency.
The static drop on the KW V2 seems to be around 6cm at the rear, which...
Last lap of the day.
Half way around the lap, sudden loss of power. Could not make it up Kesselchen any faster than 50km/h in 2nd. Hesitant to rev when I push the clutch in and try to rev it.
Engine sounds quite different too at this point.
Back in the carpark the engine sounds fine again...
Looking to buy a track car from the UK... I read somewhere that it would be best if km/h were also indicated along with mph on the dash...
Saw a video of 172 Cup which has km/h but want to make sure it was the same on the ph1s.
From far it doesn't seem out of the ordinary
but then look at the A pillar
cage connected to the rear strut tops
AC was replaced by cold air coming through a tube which went from the grille and out of the airvent
Finally got around to getting my ph1 corner weighed. I had made some adjustments to the suspension myself so I was rather pleased that it was pretty much fine without having to adjust it at all.
Weights with me in the car in kg, seems better than the silver Clio, from which the aluminium bonnet...
Had not planned on going to the 'Ring much this year, but then 2 friends from the US decided they'd come over, and both wanted to go to the Nordschleife with me as guide, 1 last weekend, 1 this weekend, so I went (going again this weekend) :D
Some of the nicer shots from the weekend:
Showing...
Just bought this car to swap over all the parts from my silver 172 track car, I think it has an OMP front strut brace and some sort of K&N induction kit but never seen it online before
Just want to know if it's any better than standard - if not then I'm swapping over the standard ph1 airbox...
bought this car as I had a small accident in my silver track car
will be swapping over the suspension, exhaust, steering wheel, brake lines, pads, disks...
considering swapping the bonnets as well as the silver one has an aluminium one
standard distance from wheel center to wheel arch was 350mm, was lowered to 315mm on KW V2... had a lot of buzzing while on track under hard cornering, turned out the driveshafts were rubbing against the body, made driveshaft shaped dents in the body :dead:
It's been raised to 320mm now, which...
With about 30~35mm drop, both front and back, I've noticed that the front driveshafts grind on the car body under hard cornering on the track.
Is the car just too low or could it be that my bumpstops are worn out or something?
