Needs new strut top mounts ( garage confirmed ) As its making a twanging noise when you move the wheel when parked.

I believe all your answers are very usefull to me, but this one is what i was looking for, recently came back as my strut snapped, and i didnt notice, now replaced, its not doing it as bad, BUT it is still there, you hear this twanging when the car is stationary, and you have the wheel, left...
sounds like one of the valves has gone, if not, sounds like the cambelt tensioner about to break, advised not to drive it or you will be looking at over a 1000 pounds worth of damage...
The engine needs stripping, but to make sure if is a valve, you need to do a compression test to see which...
All its about is, how would you know is your track rod end is knackered..

tried to get this out tonight to replace with a new one, finsing it very difficult, any ideas? got the plug off the top off, but the unit wont come out... also is there wires at the bottom, and is this an issue, as it has water in the tank... ta
Yea tried the pulling of the engine forward , will try again with a couple pulling it , also how would you know if there is too much flex in the dog bone ?? Is it visibly clear , ie worn , movable a lot ?
Only does it when I pull in 1st gear , the exhaust bend going into the engine seems really tight , thought it cud be a mount ... ill try looking at both of what you guys think it could be , anyone got any other ideas if not ... sound is s thumping sound n its Def the exhaust banging on the...

ok so driving along, and all electrics / power steering and brakes cut out, i nearly crashed into another car in very icy conditions, pulled over and it cut out, so i treid starting it again, it made a right racket, big tapping sound... the rac came and said it is a possible tensioner collapse...
Started it this morning it said before the clock went -----40 miles left, but is that accurate ? As the petrol light has come on now, and I've just got to work, and at least another 10 miles to go lol ! Help... roughly how much fuel left in tank ? Or else id be pushing it lol
