The bit it goes into is a sliding bolt - just pull it out of the caliper carrier and buy a new one. Think they were ~£15 for a set from Renault.

Only other easy thing to check is the fuses - iirc there is a fusebox located in the engine compartment, check them all. You could always try phoning your local renault garage and ask to speak to the service dept and see if they will give you any help - although if they are like any renault...

Sounds like it might be tripping the polyfuse on the motherboard - this fuse may also cover the keyboard and mouse making it appear that the system has crashed. Do the keyboard lights stay on (caps lock etc) after you connect the camera??

Only the 2.0 litre Clio has a power steering fluid reservoir - the rest have electric power steering and therefore dont use any fluid.
