I can understand why people want to drop cars lower than 30mm as it looks fantastic but even on a Dynamique all you will do is get a much harsher ride, reduce wet handling, increase road noise and introduce a new symphony of rattles/creaks (or turn the volume up on old ones)
I am sure that Eibach Pro Kit springs are 20mm drop on a Standard MkI or II 172? I think its a 20mm drop + the already lowered height of the 172 anyway
Are Avo springs any good? Trying to get a 30-35mm drop on the best quality springs I can get but Eibach and Koni seem to only supply 20mm drop. Ive got a Mk1 172
I am pretty sure the picture is either the new megane or a blueprint type drawing of it - look at the ugly tail end. I saw one at Renault today - They look fine from the front but are grim from the rear.
Its gonna be really difficult for anyone to mod them though, some have 17" inch wheels as...
Does anyone have this annoying problem?
Basically my Mk1 172 has got a squeek somewhere in the frame of the front passenger seat that gets progressively noisier through a journey! Its definately mettalic and I have tried lubing up the runners a bit but it doesnt seem to be that.
It tends to...
Can anyone help?
I have ordered a SPARCO lift-up reverse gear nob and have only just found that getting the old one off my Mk1 172 is bloody difficult!! - Can anyone tell me how it is attached as it doesnt seem to unscrew or click on/off. Because its metal I doubt it can be cut off either. -...

Hi anyone,
After months of trouble selling my 1.2 16V Clio I have got my hands on the Mk1 172!! I am well chuffed. I bought it from my supervisor at work and its more or less immaculate save for some annoying rattles, a dodgy mid silencer and the occasional stonechip.
I was quite worried...
Ive just bought a Mk1 172 and it appears the same problem is there in my car. i have no audible rattle in the cabin but indoor car parks etc show it up when youve got your windows down. I was told that its the baffle inside the mid silencer coming loose and ratting around inside the box. How...

Spoilers are literally for show mate, nowt else. Even rally cars dont get to go fast enough in a straight line to benefit from the wacky spoilers they put on them. If you are doing 150+MPH the spoiler may help to hold the arse of the car to the floor.
Sorry, I didnt mean perfomance so much as handling. I really cant be arsed to take on a whole load of arch work if it simply means poorer response, fewer passengers and an underside you can do rollie pollies under! (I think I am answering my own question here!) - But it seems that 17s are just...
Its a Mk1 172, It will probably be dropped 40mm as I like a low ride height and I know that APEX springs are fantastic (had them on my 1.2 16V). If the performance will, be drastically affected though I will probably stay with 16s. No problems with these from anyone I trust?
Hi anyone,
I have searched the Forum as I expected this would be a common topic but couldnt find much. Basically, will 7x17s with 205/40 tyres go on a lowered 172 without any problems? Its been lowered by 40mm. If it is gonna be a load of hassle I am gonna get 16s instead.
