So a week or two back started hearing a high pitched "whine" from my 172 engine, finally had time to take a bit of a look and I believe the noise is most likely a dry bearing somewhere, using a mechanics stethoscope it seems to sound loudest around the inlet/outlet pulley area (there doesn't...
Would the boot lid from a 2002 Clio 5 Door Hatch 1.4L be able to be swapped on to a 172 ?
The boot lid on my 172 got stoved in a while back and it's been annoying the heck out of me, local wreckers has a 1.4 Clio in at the moment, visually the boot lid size looks ok to me, but wondering if...
Anyone know where to start looking for a running-on issue with a PH1? The car has just started running-on for 10 seconds or so after removing the key from the ignition.
I have been having a few engine issues of late, ran a compression test recently and didn't get particularly good results on...
Recently had my Aircon regassed, it's probably been out of gas since I brought the car 5 years ago as it's never really blown cold.
However now when I engage the AC I feel quite a bit more vibration of the car through the steering wheel which seems to get worse as I turn the fan up to full...
Looking at buying one of these soon so wondering if PMS has any updates on the rattle situation? I'm running solid mounts so expecting to get a bit of rattle with this fitted.
I can highly reccommend the Pioneer DEH-80PRS head unit, made even the stock speakers come alive in my 172. Have since swapped out the interior's for some Polk Audio's and added a small sub (fusion 8" Active) in the back, all up spent maybe $800-$1000 (NZ) and very happy now with the setup.
Does anyone know what the connector in the photo is for ? I'm installing some USB sockets in the center console and came across this one which seems to have a 12V switched pin so will be used to power my USB ports but before I chop it up I would like to know what's it was originally supposed to...
Definitely not slotted on my B14's either, are there two different versions, seems odd that a few people have slotted and some dont. I had considered that slotting them would probably be the best option to get more Camber (or maybe slot the ball joints) still very surprised that with this...
Thanks for the Reply. Do you know what your final -Camber was with that setting ? to me looking at your photo's they're setup roughly mid way between max negative camber and max postivite caster which is rougly how I set mine up initially also but got bugger all negative camber or positive...
Recently installed my B14's and AST Top Mounts that I brought from Kamracing about a year ago, other than having to machine a new top nut for the struts becuase the AST Top Mount supplied nut was a different thread everything went well.
The problem I have though is after fitting I've ended up...
was it the front or rear bearings in the end ? I have a similiar symptom myself that's just started and did have my rear disc's replaced about 6 months ago too.
Thanks again, not 100% sure which piece your referring to as I don't have them in front of me atm but from memory from bottom up there is the black spring top, then a black plasticy bearing piece, then a small shim like piece that sits on top of that, then the actual solid mount top and finally...
Just about to fit some AST top mounts and B14's myself next week. Was having alook at how things will all fit together today, other than the problem you've had I've also noticed that the nut supplied with the AST's doesn't seem to have the same thread pitch as the B14's do, how did you get...
Nice to see another Kiwi here :) Phase 1 owner myself, picked it up on trademe a few years ago for $5k (there's a mint Phase 1 on trademe at the moment with only 30,000Ks for around $14K.
Personally running Yoko AD08 on mine currently 195/50/15 and love them, got them from hyperdrive.co.nz...
Purchased some HEL lines for my PH1 a few months ago and went to go fit them today but discovered the OE lines have splines in them at the hose end which I presume are there to prevent any twisting motion occurring of the lines.
The HEL Lines though don't have the splines and appear to need to...
Not really unless you count dealers as "specialists" .. I've been told by the local dealer though there is a guy in Auckland that does specialise in Renaults but haven't contacted him yet to see what sort of services he provides.
Most parts here have to be brought in ex France, even simple...
I seem to recall reading one of the technical notes in Dialogys about this and it said to simply inform the customer that it was normal, mine certainly does it as well, hasn't bothered me at all after reading that note.
Another Kiwi Phase 1 owner here ... mine was in good condition too but nowhere near as low mileage as yours, was 125,000 kms when I purchased it 3 years ago (now closer to 148,000 km).
Ive seen one other phase 1 Iceberg here in Wellington as well.
what I call a "squeak" sounds almost exactly like someone was putting my front bumper through a blender, the OP's description fitted exactly what I was hearing and how I would have described it. You could also check your main crank pulley too that's what mine was first diagnosed as possibly...
btw this one's easy enough to spot as well, pop the bonnet and look at the top pulley whilst moving the wheel left and right while the car's idling, you'll see the pulley stopping and the belt just slipping.
I got to the bottom of my issues, it was the accessories belt slipping on the top pulley when the power steering was putting more load through everything, made a horrible squeaking noise. Time for a belt change for me I guess.
