The reality is that these engines aren't happy being opened up. It's always a big gamble modifying them. There are far better engines out there to mess about with. I don't think I've ever seen an F4R chosen by a kit car for example. You really have to be a fan to choose one. I'm not knocking...
I know the history but it seemed to me, that Chris was defending Fred when it has long been out of his hands. I've been out of the Clio "scene" for a year or so but saw it run at Fred's and knew that it had become a fixture at the Glastonbury museum.
Been out of the loop for a while but couldn't believe it's still like this. Even Kwikfit would have done it by now. I know he was doing it as a favour but bloody hell.
Halfords do a good all weather cover. About £40 iirc, did mine for a couple of years no problem. You only need the small one and it's almost a perfect fit.
Cheap option if you're not into being ripped off by brands......Lonsdale.
Seriously, they do one that's about £25 and ideal as it has a rolled heel. The Camden, they also do a mid a bit like a boxer's boot. They're good too, I've used both. Somebody scoffed when I suggested them to him before...
Thought I'd put my new one on here. 71k, last owner for 12 years I think. Mechanically good as far as I can see. Paintwork needs a bit of attention but hopefully will see me ok reliability wise. I was really after a blobeye but the interior is what you see mostly and that's really good.
Well I'm now Clioless but am enjoying a Bugeye Impreza WRX. I'd have preferred a slightly later Blobeye but this is pretty low miles at 71k and in pretty good nick. I'm not a show queen anyway, so as long as it goes well, that's all that matters to me and boy does it go well. It's actually more...
Whilst bodies do sound great, I'd look at boost instead. Far better performance per pound, nicer on the road too. As stated above, ITBs only if you really have to for racing. I believe KTEC have somebody new doing their mapping but if not, then they're about as good as Google Maps for an ECU...
Recently sold both of mine. Put a deposit on a bugeye Scoob that perfectly fits the bill for what I want for now. I'd have preferred a blobeye but I don't see the front, when I'm driving and this is a nice low miler. I have a suspicion that I'll have another Clio in the future though.
Tony had his done at Northampton Motorsport and was happy as far as I know Pete. They looked after me well for cornerweighting and sponsor a Westfield sprint series, so have a good knowledge of what's required in a race engine.
