Hi all! My 182 has recently come up with the 'battery and stop light' warning light. Looking for an alternator. Do I need to go Genuine or will an equivalent from a motor factors do? They're all quite pricey! Where's the best place to buy? Many thanks, Martyn

Cheers mate- Checked both and they're fine. Arghh Also checked tyre pressures... I think I will probably replace the rear shocks. (Purely because they are reasonable price)

Sorry I'm a newbie.. How do I check exactly the idle figure with RST? (My mate checked it somehow) And can I manually adjust the idle? I will admit that the map did smooth it out a bit but not great!

Hi all, hope you can help. I've done a lot of searching already in the forum and now quite informed. I have a 182 and drives very well. However idle is awful, really awful!! (never stalls but is very lumpy and the whole car judders) and I am trying to hunt down the culprit. The needle moves...

Appreciate all the replies! I'll do a compression check just for peace of mind. But as you say, keep an eye on the fluids and keep driving! (On that note, hasn't lost any coolant/oil and it's made it 450 miles- time will tell!)

Little update. New engine is in! Idle is alittle lumpy but that's about it. However..... After getting the car checked out by a Renault Specialist, they confirmed the timing was spot on but injector 2 wasn't right. They cleaned this up but actually made it worse. Is it complete coincidence...

Got mine off a breakers, he was local to me. He's on gumtree. I was alittle apprehensive but showed a video of it running and saw the cars he was breaking. The belts etc are getting re done whilst the engine is out and will be fitted next week.. I'll let you know how it goes as he has another...

You can't really...mine had 84k with full history etc but I've seen 1*2s with way over 100k with no issues... Renparts have an engine for 600 with 50k on the clocks, I was going to buy it

Must be something in the air! Mine did the same just over a week ago.. Sod's law I was about 150 miles away from home! Been expensive month so far. As above, they will be around 500 ish. I bought one off a breaker locally for £300. Let's see if it's as good condition as they said!

Well I've just bought a 172 cup engine with 60k on it. Hopefully it will be strong enough! I am sure I read that the 172 has a stronger head but might have made that up!

Makes me wonder how they survive as track cars! Just checked the price of uprated valves, £458! Oooo

Bought a new engine. Mine went bang after it dropped a valve! (After 2 weeks of ownership!) Be back in the road next week, bloody cars!! haha
