All sorted. Box and clutch feel great now and gear selection spot on.

No mate, the warranty was with the box. The garage that fitted it did not supply the box, i did. Quite rightly so i should have returned the car to the place that fitted the box but i didn't as i trust the garage that made the adjustment to the linkage more lol...if that makes sense.

Gearbox not at fault and that is where the warranty is. Took it to my local garage and they adjusted the linkage rod, now much better. Would say it needs a fine tune but so much better.

Been tempted but if i can sort it it saves the hassle

Turned out to be the diff. One garage quoted me £800 to £1000 for a gearbox and clutch. Managed to get a low milage box and a new clutch all being fitted this weekend for £150. Rear NS brake is grinding when i brake so i'll check that too to make sure the cylinder isn't leaking.

Under the bonnet this morning and found this It look like it was connected to the battery at sometime, wire runs through the bulkhead. I can trace it into the passenger footwell then it goes behind the trim near the door. Large fuse looking item has autoleads written on it so am i right in...

Yes 1.2 mate. Never had one done so not sure with that price. Renault garage quoted me £353.

I'll get it checked. The car did have the NS track rod end ball joint replaced for the MOT so going to also check that. Driving it this morning i found i could still hear it when the clutch was pressed, just not as loud.

Cheers jordski19, i know what you mean about the renault specialist but i do trust this garage. They topped up the gearbox and added the additive, they told me it might not be an instant cure but on the drive home i very rarely heard it. I'll just see how it goes over the next few days.

I am going to run the car into the garage this morning to see if they can detect the clicking noise. Whilst i am there i am also going to get a price for a cambelt change. No history with the car and it is at 72000 so best to change the cambelt.

Just picked up my clio today. Driving home and i hear a clicking noise, best way to describe it is the noise you hear flicking through a pack of cards. I seem to hear it more when i come off the gas, it stops when i dip the clutch but then comes back when i come off the clutch?

I ran acheck last night on the car. It was a cat C in Feb2011 then VIC checked Nov 2011. A few people have said to steer clear of a cat C which has sort of put me off but part of me is still tempted as i do like the car.

Cheers guys. I know nothing about the car as today is first day i have seen it. It drove very nice. I can do the small jobs as for the price it's offered it doesn't bother me. The mayo was my main concern but as stated it could be down to short journeys, also i don't think the car has been used...

Hi, I have just been to view a clio but wanted to get some info from you guys before i go ahead with the purchase. The car is a clio 1.2 16v, 2003 with 72000 on the clock. The car has been damaged repaired, panel damage i think but the car looks good. The problems i found are as follows so...
