just to let you guys know i have just re insured my car (well jan1st) 172 sport and im 21 with 4yrs ncb. This was £800 protected no claims or £675 unprotected and this was with priviledge. really top price after searching long and hard
i have noticed a creaking noise in my car on full lock. It seems to be only on full lock to the left and when the car is moving or is rocked back and forth on the clutch. ie going back and forth very small distances on a hill so just rolling back and then putting power back on. No idea where it...
muckytools was your knocking noise the same thing ie only round conrers on uneven surfaces? also did you carry the work out yourself? if so how easy and what time scale does this take?
o and i dont know if it makes any difference but when i had some new tyres they re did the tracking and for a few days the knocking noise had gone, but after that it gradually came back, as i said dont know if this would have anything to do with it?
i have been into renault who have replaced an engine mount and machined away bodywork around the top of my suspension strut to try and ridicule a knocking noise i get. Got the car back and its still there!!!
It only happens when taking right hand corners on 3/4 to full lock and only on uneven...
it is an alpine pair its all good i found out the positive was infact the large one, all connected up and sounding slightly better than the originals, time for a new headunit me thinks
also does it matter which way round + and - are as the new speakers arent marked only that one connector is larger than the other. I was gonna guess this would be the positive side?
i decided to upgrade my front speakers in my mk2 172. When removing the old speaker i found it had a connector on it. Is it best to try and use this somehow or just cut the wires and go from there?
same as above i had issues engaging 3rd gear at pace, this was synchro probs. This was on an almost 3 year old just under warenty - this was covered 100% through warranty
i encounter a knocking/judderinhg noise when cornering tight corners quite fast/hard and only when its a right hand bend. It only happens on bumpy uneven surfeces and only on sharp/tight corners never long sweeping ones. (the most commen being up my local shopping centre multi story going up or...
i need to replace the clutch cable on my mk2 172 it has now gone for a second time leaving me with a squeking/jerky pedle and a heavier clutch action. I need to know how to fit one of these as im sure it wasnt done properly last time round (needs changing only 12months on). Is this a job that is...
My steering wheel was ripped on my mk2 172 by a very unhelpfull renault garage and so now i have to fit a new one. I have a new steering wheel to put on but just wondered how easy this would be to do? Renault want £40 to change it and as they ripped the last one i dont really want to go back...
just a quick question, my 02 clio has had many problems such as needing two new ball joints and a new clutch. I have noticed since trying to sell it that it has problems changing from 2nd to 3rd when being driven hard, usually it is fine but if its being driven properly there is a grinding as it...
yep aa service centres will do and it and quite alot cheaper. I belive there is a £10 or £15 surcharge if u need genuine parts ie to keep the warrenty although after past experiences my personal view is id rather do my own work on my car than let anyone else near it
i need a specialist or a good garage someone could advise me about to change and supply a new clutch for my mk2 172. It needs to be around reading/wokingham/bracknell in berkshire and must be someowhere thats not going to try to rip me off and will do a good job
how do you remove the a-pillar covers on a mk172 clio?(probably all the same) im removing the dash but with the pillars in its not shifting. iv tried pulling but dont wanna pull too hard incase i break them.
cheers mike
there are no clip[s on the car. There are little plastic hooks/clips but they are an integral part of the bump strip so if someone has broken these it is next to useless anyways. You would need to open the door to remove it but as said if it was nicked then they have probably just rippped it...
i was thinking about this but it would be an arse to use unless i could somehow use the remote control dvd add on to choose the songs etc? anyone know if this would work?
lol good answer. no but for dvd viewing for passengers whilst driving althought thinking about it i guess it wouldnt be used much whilst driving. Just wanted to check anyways. I certainly wouldnt be playing/watching whilst i was driving anyway
i have recently got a screen for in my car now instead of buying a dvd player i was thinking of getting one of the new slimline ps2s. my question is for people who have ps2s in their cars do you have any problems with the dvd/game skipping or freezing when you go over a bump? as i have noticed...
ring renault uk up. Wheni spoke to them they confirmed that the belt was changed at 72k not the 36k everyone quotes as long as the car was made after May 2002. They also sent me a letter to confirm this so i presume they have checked it etc. Also my local dealer said the belt wasnt done i...

would i need an iso adaptor on my 2002 172 clio? im getting a new headunit and just want to know if the leads will slot straight in or if i will need the extra adaptor? many thanks
