£199 Renault Dealer 72,000 mile service

Things must be desperate at Renault dealers, just been offered a 72,000 mile service (had both belts done earlier in the year) for £199. The addition of a air-con re-gas + service is pretty handy as I was going to get that done separately.

Only worrying fact is the mention of the spark plugs only being changed if required, obviously they need to be changed at the 72,000 so I've insisted that happens.

Change engine oil
Replace engine oil filter
Lambda Engine and Fuel Line Cleaning
Check levels (brake fluid, coolant, power steering)
Check operation of all lights
Check windscreen, washers and wipers
Check tyre wear and pressures
Check condition of exhaust system and mountings
Check condition of brake system
Check cooling system for leaks
Check Air Conditioning
Diagnostic check of all on board computers
Check condition and operation of doors, mirrors and windows
Road test and report
Replace air filter
Check and top up battery fluid
Top up brake fluid
Air conditioning re-gas
Check belts (excluding timing belt)
Air conditioning service
Replace spark plugs if required
Replace fuel filter

Yes for an RS, pulled up from the registration. Online its £229 without air-con re-gas service. The air-con service at Renault is c.£95 separately. Very strange, although large companies often get things mixed up so who knows with Renault.

just a basic sevice tbh im doin mine myself this week will be £55 all in once ive decided which spark plugs to get

Should have expected it, Renault phoned me up. RS's are not included in the offer which they decide after they have seen the cost of the spark plugs then referred to some small print, oh and by the way we don't have time to MOT it today..

+ 1. Amazes me how much extra people pay for a stamp!!

Especially considering how many cars i've sold over the past 5 years that i've simply done myself, & backed up with wads of receipts ...

Dito. So easy to do and so long as you keep an invoice record of the parts used that would be ok by me :approve:

My hopes were too high lol. Based in Birmingham, been to Birchdown before for cambelts just not convenient for normal servicing. Tried BTM before but had some difficulty in getting a response.

Agreed, but most people won't know the standards of your work. Most people given the choice between a car thats been serviced by a garage or self-serviced by someone they don't know - will pick the garage.

I disagree, id much rather buy a car from an enthusiast, who has reams of receipts and put blood, sweat & tears into a car that i would eat my dinner off, than someone who has been to Renault & paid them £100 an hour for the privilege of having a YTS boy service their car ...

  Better than yours. C*nt.

PHONE HIM!

He's a busy chap, and doesn't always get back to his emails as often as he'd like. Drop him a tinkle and he'll help you out!

same here. i know i'll finish a job properly. imagine its 4.30pm on a friday evening and its the apprentice of the garage doing the work to your car! as if he is going to give the car the same attention to detail the owner would!

edit; also, the money i save by doing the work myself makes me feel better when i spend money on things that i dont need such as coilovers etc.

I wasn't talking specifically about you, I was talking about most people. I'd add that not everyone working on a car will do it to your standard.
