05 plate 182 36k service - how much!?

It depends on what it includes. I assume its oil, filter, aux belt, labour, sounds a tad expensive and the masjority of the work can be done yourself. What plate 182 is it, you may as well include a cambelt in there too if its been on a while, if it does include cambelt and all of the above then thats about right. If its just an oil filter and aux belt, go elsewhere.

It's a 2005 car, so the cam belt shouldn't need doing just yet as far as I'm aware. It is a Renault main dealer, with oil and all other associated parts. Still sounds expensive to me.

Cambelt doesn't need doing until 5 years or 72,000 so you'll be fine there.

Try a specialist instead of a dealer, as they'll do just as good a job (or better) usually for less.

I'm sure my local dealer has it at about £400 on the service board.. will check next time i'm in..

Local Renault Dealer should be around £400-£450max.

A good specalist would charge about half that.

Carlton Garage, Exmouth are one of the best.

As said cambelt will be fine. Ive never had a car in warranty before but surely if you go elsewhere you will loose out on the remainder of your warranty? It will expire in March anyway so may not be much of an issue. If it has warranty work to be done though, get it all in before the service.

Had a few quotes now: £665.96, £620.48, £551.46, £477.12 and £296.00. The cheapest didn't ask what the plate was and I only told them it was a Clio, so probably not correct. The one for £477.12 said that the aux belt didn't need doing. So it looks like it's pretty pricey! I do have a leaking sump, so that needs doing under the warrenty - looks like I'll be out of pocket for a while!

Finally, someone helpful at Renault Leicester - just phoned to book a 3yr service (05 182) and they told me as its only done 18k miles I didnt need one until 24k...wish the gits had told me that last year!

Took mine to RENTECH, 36k and Aux belt £250 last year.

I'd never let a car of mine go more than a year without a service or at least an oil change TBH - 2 years is FAR too long IMHO.

I saw a 6 year old 172 with only 11k on the clock, it had only been serviced twice!

It wasn't a pic of my car anyway - it was a 172 tested by a car mag years ago, just re-coloured to suit. Here's mine -
