Are the 1150cc's classed as a 1.1 or 1.2? Ive got one as a courtesy car and it is actually scary how slow/underpowered it is. I did a reg check thinking it would be a 800cc..haha

As above they're sold as 1.2 16v but in reality they're actually a 1.1 16v if rounded correctly.

I was wounded when i found out when i had my 1.2! I think technically the V6 is a 2.9L...

The sports are 2.0 not 1.9

if they were 1949cc they would be 1.9 but as it is more then it is rounded up.

GCSE's guys!

Anyone know why cars are always 1998 or 1995 rather than 2000?

I think every car I've had is 2 or 5 CC short of the quoted engine size.

I wish it was that simple. I find myself humping the seat in every gear to try and get it to move. It struggles through every gear..haha

Revving up to 4.5k before a change? Basically anything under 4k will make it really sluggish. Only early change I do is 1st because it sounds like death.

To difficult to make a block the exact cubic centimeters (cc). They got 1998 and thought that's close enough. However could have tried a little more on the 1.2s.

Lol. Thats if it has a rev counter. Mine didnt!

Everything over 5k is slugish!

its to do with the diameter of each cylinder and the length of each stroke, and making them more round numbers to ease manufacture.
making it exaclty 2000cc would mean using some very odd numbers when it comes to the dimenssions of each cylinder!

my old clio 1.2 was actually 1148cc 8v, to say it was a bit gutless is a bit of an understatement!
