No smells of petrol, and nothing under the car either, ive cheked everytime.

No idea on service, ive had it for about 6 weeks, came with no service history.

Button on the wiper stalk? I didn't think it has one, ill try tomorrow though.

Dude cheak the fuel filter, and all that and make sure they're not leaking, even just a bit.

You be able to average 40+ mpg in a 1.2 anyway, I magaged 55mpg once in my 1.4 early last month, had to really drive carefully to do it tho

I'm getting between 44 and 52mpg in my 1.2 16v.. that is calculating it manually as well not with the trip computer... most of my miles are motorway but that's at 65-70 so its still pretty good!

  Clio 172 CUP
jesus man 32 mpg on a motor way i get between 32-35mpg in my 172 cup drivving about town and thats giving it some every know and then.

36-38 mpg was average for me. compared to about 32 in my ph1 172. Motorway in the 1.2 was probably around 45-48 @ 70mph compared to 40-44 in the 172.

there must really be something wrong with mine then. rang the place for whom the sticker is on my engine bay, apparently they only put a battery in.

im thinking new air filter, spark plugs and maybe oil change?

Mate best thing u can do is plug it in will show you whats wrong

full service will help you out

Oil change, filters, plugs, tyre pressue
If it was mine i would be adjusting the handbrake and cleaning the brakes to make sure

could be a number of things causing very low mpg

What does that diagnostic check actually do? I tried it out to just see what happens.

Just alot of movement and noises?

i drive to Salford uni which is Greater Manchester. On the M62 i achieve 43MPG-ish in my 1.4 16v.

In the fast lane i was doing 100MPH and it averaged 40 MPG no lower than 39.

In my 1.4 8v I'm getting around 40-43 MPG and thats with me using a MPG calculator with the amount of fuel used (full tank to empty) although I'm guessing my open cone air filter isn't helping a great deal so gonna get that swapped back to standard.

  Turbos.
Used to get 40mpg easily, so must be something wrong with the car or your driving! Coil pack went on mine..don't know if would affect anything whilst on it's way out?
