1.2 16v steering issue

A friend bought a 1.2 yesterday and the steering wheel doesnt seem to centre itself. Is this a known fault? Its a 51 plate 1.2 16v, I havent had a good look at it yet but I couldnt see a PAS pump connected to the aux belt?
Any replies would be appreciated. Marco
