did they make a mk2 ph1 in 16v?
around town you wont notice a difference infact the 8v feels a bit quicker due to cable throttle being more responsive and better low down torque.
over 3,000rpm tho the 16v is quicker, i love my little 1.2 16v even now that im used to the 2.0 16v 172

8v will have no chance over the 16v's. I've driven both and believe me the 16valves make all the difference!
the 1.2 16v is still piss poor though.
The 8v is a single overhead cam whereas a 16v is double overhead cam. Therefore the 8v has more torque lower down the rev range but at 3500 rpm 16v engines engage all 16 valves. Before 3500rpm they run on only 8valves to save fuel.
