1.2 16V vs Corsa 1.2 twin port

  FN2 Type R GT
I know this had probably been discussed before but couldnt find it anywhere. A friend of mine has a 1.2 twin port corsa, used to woop my 1.2 8v but now im going to a 16v is is likely to be closer between us? anyone had a little burn with one? whats the bhp on them?

Cheers

the twin port does make such a big difference, his car hits 120, dont know how but i was in the car when he did it...crazy!

My 1.2 16v clio was in the bodyshop I had a Corsa 1.2 twinport courtesy car and it was definatly way better. It just felt like it accelerated a bit quicker, probably wasnt much in it but I think it was the nippier of the two cars. Was actually quite upset giving it back I liked it that much.

The twinports are 80bhp IIRC.

The corsa is quicker and pulls much better.

I think the clio is a second slower to 60, than the Corsa.

There is nothing in it at all mate,

my first car was a 53 plate 1.2 16v corsa
my friend had 1.2 16v clio

both exactly the same i found, depended on driving mistakes etc.

both cars could do 115mph - 120mph also so the book figure isnt correct really.

There not s**t/slow cars at all people saying that are full of s**t. There ideal first/cheap cars and mine didnt feel slow at all.

A very inteligent post that mate, if people complain there 1.2 16V is slow then sell it and get a 182/172 if you think its s**t and slow then sell it and buy another car, at the end of the day the 1.2 16V is cheap to tax, insure and run and its no hot hatch but i wouldnt say it is slow becuase its capable of keeping up with traffic easily on any road (minor,major,B/A roads and motorways) its not the cars fault its "slow" its the person who buys and complains about its fault for buying a car that isnt fit for the purpose they want it for.

Book figure is correct, on the flat a 1.2 will never do 120, in fact the idea is laughable. The clocks might show 120 but that's only because they're so inaccurate at speed.

Agreed, they aren't "s**t slow". A milk float, or that base spec Fiat panda which does 0-60 in 20 secs is "s**t slow". However, they are slower than the average car, that's a fact. Best used as a nippy learner/town/cheap car.
