1.2 alternator

Just wondering what everyone thinka about how up to the job the 1.2 dynamiques alternator is to run a head unit and 3 amps without killing the battery?! Going to be fitting a new system soon but dont want to have to keep getting the jump leads out!!

Of my standard battery in my 1,2 i was running head unit Genisis 5 channel amp etc and 3 tvs it culdnt cope uprated the battery everything is fine now although i am still looking into the alternator business.

I would say uprate the battery for a deep cycle ptima and see what happens.

alright mate, i was running 2 amps and a sub from a 1.2 alternator, and it will eventually die mate. ive changed the battery once already, and its still dying. I think its definately worth investing in a proper hardcore battery like the one in the clio dci or a yellow top i think its called!

will get a heavy duty battery when i get the system in i think then, didnt think the tiny battery would last all that long with 3 amps and a head unit - seems to struggle with fogs, ac, standard stereo up loud and rear demister if you leave it sitting about for any length of time!

you could try using poer caps with your system.

Ive got 1 amp, head unit, and neons. Soon gonna add another amp and interior neons so ill probably buy a power cap and uprate the battery.

I have heard that the alternators on the diesals and 16v, williams are bigger than the 1.2/RT/etc. so it couldbe worth checking out how hard it is to swop them over.

I got a power cap as well i added it first but didnt make much difference!!

so i uprated the battery i am considering hte altenator upgrade though as sometimes tha car cuts out at standstill!
