1.2 Billabong dynamique

  work for BMW
so i sold my RB 182 ready to go to uni and bought myself an 03 billabong for a very nice price. bought it from an electrical engineer who did all the work on the car himself,
came with brand new cambelt, 4 new tyres, new front discs and pads, brand new mot, upgraded front and back speaks with headunit. the car is in great condition inside and out apart from the usual scratches here and there around the body,
phoned up adrian flux and said how i wanted to mod it and they said thats fine no extra charge.. :D

my plans

- lower it, i have already brought and received Eibach sportlines for non sport 50MM drop. havent put them on yet..soon!
- i am awaiting delivery from chris on here of a cup spoiler and RS front grill.
- 172 rear bumper

i really want turinis but i just cant see myself spending £400 on them :(

absolutely loving the 50MPG i am getting but the power coming from a 182 is hilarious , will take time to get used to it but overall i am very happy. even has auto wipes and lights! my cup didnt have that.

Went up to bridgwater to get it, above Taunton. I know I can't wait to see how it turns out. Finding it out to find a rear 172 bumper thou

Props to you for having the guts to downgrade. I didn't have the nerve to own/drive a non-sport after my 182 despite them making excellent sense.

Looks like a really good buy, good luck with it all. I haven't owned a sport (yet) but I had to downgrade due to insurance from a 1.4 to a 1.2 years ago, and the difference in that seemed bad enough.

Anyway, if you're going slower, it'll give the crowd longer to stare in awe ;)

Why the downgrade? Doesn't seem like it'll save you much, taking into account the mods you're planning.

The mods will cost about £350 total which I can take off and re sell if I ever sell it so. Plus insurance is half the price and petrol is so much better.

an update

so i brought some eibach sportlines 50MM drop from a member on here and wanted to fit them asap, i have no mechanical knowledge so i didnt want to attempt it myself. i rang up various garages and the i was getting quotes averaging £150-£200.. just to fit the springs.
i was pretty gutted until a member from here under the name Jjay messaged me saying he would come fit them for me for some petrol money.. bearing in mind he lives 120 miles away :O:O
i wanna thank him again for coming all that way for someone he had never met and doing an excellent job on the car, i learnt a lot too so maybe i can do it myself next time haha.

a few pictures

we did the rears easy, the front left was easy but the front right took quite a while because we had 2 nuts which just wouldnt budge. tried everything so in the end we went a few doors down to a nice mechanic man and he used his air gun on them woo result.

so heres a before picture of it sitting standard

and now with new springs

img0637mh.jpg

i think it sits perfectly, i didnt want it too low so :)
parked next to Jjays car.. dont worry i abused him over the lexus lights and he told me they were on there from purchase and he was originally not going to keep the car as long as he has haha.

random picture of a cool sky on the beach..

I should have done this when I went to Uni. I'd of gone for a dci though. Instead I tried to have no car, failed after 3 months and bought a MX5.

Enjoy uni though mate, chances are though by 3rd year you'll be bored of the partying etc and want a nice car again. That's what I did, hence the 182.

im no fresher :p i have already done my first 2 years at plymouth uni, im on a 1 year work placement here in bournemouth and earning ££ but going back to uni for my final year in sept. i justified buying myself a 182 for a year just because i was earning some money and wasnt at uni haha

just got the cup spoiler in the post from a member off here so i went about fitting it.
was a bit tricky getting the screws lined up but i managed it in the end.

I dont understand the down grade. yet you are spending money to do it up?

just leave it as it is it can't look any better can it !

  work for BMW
I'm only spending £200 on mods and saved £2000 in my bank. Just making my car look a bit better and spending as little as possible.

  PB Clio 172
sure you would of been better saving that £200

it will always be a 1.2 thats all I am saying. If it was me I would of got a dci and drove that around

  work for BMW
Naa that £200 is perfectly spent , I love clio sports and I'm loving the economy of the 1.2 as well as looking a bit sportier. I'm going to keep this car for a few years so it's worth it. At the end I'll take the mods of and sell separately and regain some money.
So in reality I'm not loosing much

update

RS grill is installed and makes a massive difference , changes the whole car for a small amount of ££ which is nice,

i also decided to colour code , i painted the side strips black and remove the billabong stickers.
instead of spending £400 on new alloys im currently doing a refurb myself on my wheels, sanding them and filling any scrapes and spraying them black to match the car, cost me about £50 ;) plus iv learnt alot doing it by my self.

so total mods have cost me about £250 which is not bad at all for the transformation.

Looking good mate - I don't understand how people on here cannot understand the downgrade, perfectly sensible imo, I am at Uni myself and get great MPG from my 1.2 and insurance is really good, to insure a 182 it is nearly £2000 more then you got the road tax and fuel consumption to take in to consideration as well as the repair bill.

One of the reasons I went for a 1.2 - gonna stick with it for a while until after graduation had it nearly 2 years now been a great runner

  BG 182
looks very tidy mate. i have one as well, and your doing pretty much everything ive got planned. are you doing anything about shocks or leaving them standard on the springs? oh and love the fact you said no to the wheels then a couple of posts later haha

  work for BMW
I'm leaving te shocks standard, I don't think the springs have gone low enough to need a shock change, I'm sure it's only lowered maybe 35mm.

^i know i wasnt going to buy wheels but the turinis came up locally and a good price so I couldn't say no! Haha
