Hi travelled an 8 hour round trip to essex today to pick up my new car, well engine :p Now i have more idea what the key problems are and need a few questions answered :)

1 . The engine is turning over but the fuel pump aint kicking and and there is no source of power to the coil pack, is this to do with the ignition?

2 . What is this piping for?:

3 . Are 172 cup drive shafts different to 172 FF drive shafts?

4 . If i were to change the front and rear axle with a 172 ff front and rear axle would there be a problem with the ABS?

Thanks for you're help :)

They are indeed airccon pipes. On the fuel pump front your probably looking at an imobilizer code problem, you'll need the ignition barrel and the key from the donor car so the ecu gets the right code from it. Not sure about the other questions.

Just a quick thought, there is a relay in the relay box that relay powers up the coil pack and fuel pump, this is switched on by the engine control unit authorised by the immobilizer, so check the relay and if thats ok chances are its immobilizer related
The pressure switch is on the front of the block, down and to the right of the oil filter if my memory serves me correctly.
Not sure of the thread

surely that cant be how the immobiliser works, or all you would do is send a live to the input of said relay and immobilser would be bypassed..

1) Need to track back all the wires is the dasboard red light going out when you turn the key?

2) They don't have the ABS ring on them they can be fitted to them though although dealers will have problem finding the part in the system but its there thats all they need to be used ona a full fat 172. Full fat rings can be fitted to a cup though wiothout issues.

Swop the ABS system else you'll have trouble.

Sender unit is from memory at the fornt down on the block
Idle 1 bar
3,000 rpm 3 bars

When engine is at 80degrees.

1. The light stays on constantly
2. Just checked the driveshafts and the 172 cup driveshaft does have ABS rings :S

If the light stayas on then the issue is the imobiliser is utting in are you sure you have the right keys etc?

172 Cup shafts I think might have come with the rings but they don't need them since they don't have abs system.
