1.3turbo or 1.4 turbo



:rasp: right in my thread ofg saying i know what im doi9ng now i have a new idea lol,

instead of a 172 conversiopn would a 5gtt lump be good or ever a starlet 1.3 turbo,

mainly thinking of these as they would be somthing different and also can get high gains and also a dump valve :approve: i love the sound :rasp:

how easy would either be and would the be that expensive to do? also would my current g.box ect be ok with them only being 1.3/1.4?????
 
The phrase "dont even bother" springs to mind. Not that you will anyway, it's just another of your thinking out loud threads which will never actually be put into action ;)

Both engines would be a wiring nightmare, i know on the mk1's they used to just bodge the 5 turbo dials into the dash rather than trying to convert them over.

As for the gearbox question you can bet your ass neither engine will accept your current box.

i doubt the gearbox would even fit and if it did then it would probably explode with the turbo torque lol

would probably make more sence to go for a newer turbo engine as the older ones are gonna be getting a bit ropey now i should think unless u wanna sink lots of money into it for new parts

5gtt will go in.....but is a pants engine so i wouldnt bother.

starlet turbo? If your going through the hassle.......put in a bigger and better turbo engine.

And like loony said, who actually does any of this.

I think people should look at their bank accounts before asking what is the best idea.
 
How would they be haigh gaisn Ok they will make the power but the 172 is much cheaper and more reliable for the same HP.

5GTT is easier to get a whole car and swop the whole system. mounts are already premade thanks for the 1.1 Night and day Clio.

As for gearbox strength forget it use the doner car one in both cases its torque which kills them and its something turbos have in vast quantiites.

The Startlet why bother the Gtt is a easier idea.

If you want somehting more powerful and turbo and cheap the Vauxhall Cavilere turbo is a good idea the COrsa fit them can usethe corsa boxes wiring is easy jiust mounts and shafts need making to fit assuming the engine fits fine which it should.

i rember seeing a black mk2 ph1 clio with a r5 turbo lump in on piston heads so has been done. but personaly from haveing two mates with renault r5 i wudnt bother putting an old enige in ur car, as there not that realibale. specaily when u start wanting more power outa them they tend to go boom quiker
