1.4 16v -> 1.6 16v

2.0 litre power looks like is going to be a possible no no for me due to insurance, anyone moved from 1.4 to a 1.6? just interested in seeing if any noticeable difference in power!

  Not a Clio anymore.....

I had a Mk1 1.4RT then moved to a 1.6 16v RSi. It has had some engine work done too so prob got a bit more poke that standard but the difference is very noticeable probably because upped 8v > 16v too.

1.4 is 0-60 in 10.5

1.6 is 0-60 in 9.3

according to parkers anyway, i drove both a 1.4 and 1.6 (actually brought the 1.6) and there is a noticable difference. ecpecially when going from 30-70mph the 1.6 pulls much better.

i got a 1.4 16v cos the insurance difference between the 1.6 wasnt worth it. Am happy with the power of the 1.4..... for now....!!

My mums got a 1.4 16v and one of my good mates has a 1.6 (both mk2 phase 2’s)so I had a good few blasts against him and although he is a bit more err built than me I can honestly say there was nothing in it, on a dual carriageway all the way upto about 110 he gained less than a meter on me. Must say though my mums is on 39,000 now and his was only on about 6,000 so it might not have opened up properly.
