1.4 16V Top Speed

Ok, whats the real top speed for my 1.4 Dynamique?

Ive had 122mph on the speedo going down through France just outside Paris towards Clermont.

This was on a very well surfaced, smooth road on the flat with no wind whatsoever. I thought this was pretty good, what you think?

117 on the m9 going from stirling to edinburgh in my 1.4 8 valver. i was impressed with that!

125mph M8 just before Motherwell in my 1.4 8v, almost on the limiter. If its the same gearbox (which I think it is then) 127mph is the very max poss

So what would the actual real speed be? 115-120mph? I dont have GPS in the Clio so couldnt see how accurate my 122mph was! Probably not very!

I dont have a 1.4 but i passed 1 last night in the cup, I was doing 120, I was well surprised by how fast it was going, I didnt exactly fly past it either!

Dunno how accurate but it would have been overreading. At a guess yeah 115-120mh.

POW be very careful there, so often the cops sit on the sliproad waiting for anyone to fly by. I managed that on the long straight, slight left then downhill going towards Glasgow between Harthill and Glasgow (was 4 up as well!!!)

HOT GZL u will give us 1.4 drivers big heads now! I gave my 172 driving mate a lift in the 1.4 and he was surprised at how nippy it was too!

EvilJohn do u know how much it will be for a replacement back box on the 1.4? U had urs replaced? Mines went today going to work, nightmare. And where u from? I live in Broxburn, near Livingston. Take it ur in the central belt?

That 1 last night would certainly give any Vtr a run for its money, it had a stainless on it, dont know if that would boost its power by much?

Just down the road in Livi, but In Broxburn/Uphall quite a bit. What does you clio look like? I went to Budget when mine went just after xmas, needed centre section as well came to £70 but backbox only was about £35 I think. Try Broxburn tyre and exhausts down on Station Road, much cheapness!

Maybe another 5-10 bhp? Not sure. Think it sits at 80 bhp normally, 16v must be about 95bhp

8v is 75 bhp, 16v about 98bhp. So an exhaust should bring it up a little, certainly given VTRs a run for there money anyway!

It was well busy, My mate mac30l and me went through at 10:30 ish, must of been at least 90 - 100 motors in the town, apparently there was even more at the Falkirk wheel around 8ish, how big was the Livi cruise?

Is your clio dark blue in the pic mate? I passed a dark blue clio with subtle mods going the opposite way at the start of the week on the a89 behind halls, ring any bells?

you are all blowing the trumpet about the 1.4 being fast but dont forget the 1.2 8valve is no slouch ive had 115 out of mine on the limiter impressive eh, but working on toyotas u must realise the yaris 1.0 can also hit 115 i think this maybe helped by the vvti

My mum has one of the most recent shape clios, its a 1.4 16v and I definatly managed an indicated ~125+ on the clock, it goes all the way to the limiter. Its pretty nippy to 60 as well for what it is, they pust out about 100bhp I think.

Mine will do an indicated 120 at 6000 rpm - not sure where the limiter is. The 1.4s are pretty quick for what they are and can certainly surprise a few "faster" cars.
