1.4 clio hard start

2002 Clio 1.4 16v hard to start when cold fine when warm, runs lumpy too

Changed plugs and fitted new tdc sensor still not running right

Any suggestions,?

Mine did that when I first got the 1.4. The throttle body was clogged, take it out and give it a clean

Once you've clean out the throttle disconnect the battery and leave it for a while the reconnect and start to allow the ECU parameters to reset

Seems to be okay and worked, see how it is in the morning

Took plenum and throttle body off, found big carbon build up in throttle body. Cleaned all up and replaced coil packs and spark plugs, new tdc sensor an cleaned MAP sensor.

Car now starts up fine, with no hesitation, but still slightly lumpy. what else could this be?

Plugged in a dtc reader yet? Stabbing in the dark could end up costing you a fortune

Found the reason to be an air leak the I ring from throttle body to plenum is perished gonna be a dealer only part

Hopefully that's the problem. And not the beginning of lots of broken parts

New I ring fitted still the same grrrrr

Maybe get it down to a garage with a diagnostics machine. ?
