Hi guys,

Im new to the forum and to clios and just got back from the track so i thought i would post my times up

1st 2nd 3rd 4th

R/T .342 1.277:mad: .811 .440

60 2.406 2.347 2.442 2.351

330 6.582 6.510 6.715 6.737

660 10.035 9.967 10.221 10.294

1000 12.988 12.918 13.214 13.305

ET 15.492 15.438 15.742 15.876

MPH 88.02 88.02 89.27 86.60

Had a really great night, my 3rd and 4th run i stuffed up, one i missed 2nd gear and the other i was babied the 1st to 2nd gear change. I found that i had better take off with the ESP on.

Anyone who hasnt been out i strongly suggest you do it, its great fun.

The times are for a stock MKII 172, are they any good? can others post their time up so i can see how i compare?

Thanks guys....

Yup. Dam slow 172.

Ill be aiming for 14.9 in the 182 in a few weeks. It was on the cards if it hadnt been for the lack of traction off the line. The 60ft time was killing me, but it really clawed it back the rest of the strip. New tyres are now on. No mods and full interior of course.

Nice times mate. First time I ever ran my best was 15.3 @91 mph at York.

You dont want the ESP on, it causes it to bog down, you need some wheelspin.

Yeah i think my best chance was in my 4th run with the 2.3 60 footer, but i stuffed the 1st -> 2nd gear change and it was all over...

Any tips on 1/4miling? My RTs and 60ft times are alright - 0.2-0.4 and 60fts are comparable to 2.4-2.8s. Any tips on making up the time...?

I tried one run with the ESP off but it just wheel spun on the take off, i say leave it ON, i probably dont have the best launch technique but used about 3500 rpm and let her slip till it got moving then gave it full throttle.

esp off, a little chirping from the fronts is perfect, just on the border of breaking traction without lighting up

sounds like your launching technique definetely needs addressing

the 60ft times should be a little quicker, my 1.2 16v was hitting 60ft in 2.4 consistently, so practice on your launches

reaction times do not go onto the overall time, you can sit there for 2 seconds then launch and still hit the same sort of times

I was getting 15.4s standard clio 172 with full interior and a big sub!

That was in the damp though so a bit can be shaved off there

I expect high 14s with a chip and filter

Seen a 172 cup with only an exhaust in the 14s (Mac 30L) in fact I am sure he got a 14.4 with 96 terminal but i will have to check

Your terminal speeds seem slow as well I am sure mine were in the high 90s (Just away to crail to check)

Yeh my best was an 18, 045s with a passenger, so 17s should be possible. Not gonna bother tryin again tho! No realy point.

IMO quartermiling is all about the first 60ft the rest is just keeping your foot in and not missing gears ...if you are in the 2.3s then you are doing pretty good, but 2.2 is where you really want to be...the faster you cover the first 60ft the more speed you carry through the rest of the run.. I havent cracked a 2.2 60ft yet...
