1.4 remap

Hi just wondering if anyone has had a 1.4 16v remapped if so did it make a difference i know everyone says theres no point but i can get it done cheap thats the only reason im asking

id imagine its the same as the 1.6 16v since they are similar, more power to be had from them than you get from mapping a 182 apparently!

Well thats what i mean people say dontbother but they will map there 172 etc for around the same increase but if its going to make no difference at all i wont bother

Iirc seb posted something (a while ago) about k4j and k4m maps

The k4j got 112bhp after the map but the k4m only came out with something like 115bhp... I.e the 1.4 responds better to the maps than 1.6... I'd ask for a before and after rr printout though. Just to be safe

FFS, why bother? If you can get it done cheap it will probably be your mate? Am I right? If so, don't bother. He liekly doesn't know what he is doing, it is never worth getting a cheap map.

Well thats another point you have brought up , its actually a mates dad he does the mobile remapping i can get it done for 100 but as you said its going to be a generic map but does that mean its crap ? I basically wanted a bit more torque from the map which is why i wanted other opinions

My old 1.4 was mapped and it did make it a big better. Still didnt make it fast though if thats what you want.

I don't know why but I have noticed that you love nothing more than to post in re mapping threads spouting off about your inferior knowledge of live and generic mapping cars.

Your post in pretty much every mapping thread goes;

You actually know f**k all about mapping, do you even know what a map looks like? What check sums are? What knock is? Anything about stoichiometric combustion?

Yes, you have a turbo diesel. Yes, tdi's respond the best to re maps. No, you don't have to witter on about it or mis inform the members of this forum with the inferior knowledge that you gained whilst stood in mcds car park.

To the OP; I wouldn't bother getting a 1.4 NA mapped. If you were to go through with it then make sure you get a live map with a decent company. The going rate is usually £300 +

After that, I'm out.

ok guys i must admit generic maps are rubbish, ive had an excelent experiance with them, the arse piece above is running one and even posted up a thread about how impressed he is, however we both were wrong.

unless you want to cause £20,000 worth of damage to your engine, DO NOT buy one.

actually, my car is going into renault next week to have the latest software loaded onto the ECU to cure a missfire, i better cancel it as they arn't live mapping it!!!

So anyway. Generic maps. My take on it;

Every production car comes from the factory with one. Modern ECUs continually adapt to changing variables, so as long as the map has been written correctly, by someone who knows what they're doing, then there shouldn't be a problem. Of course, a bad map may not be good, but then again you wouldn't let Joey Deacon live map your car either.

If I had a clio, there would be probably 3 people I would let anywhere near my car to map it. Generic maps I would avoid TBH. Much better gains and drive-ability to be had from live mapping.
