1.4 Single Point Clio RT Engines

  350z & 16v Maxi

Thought I would share my old Clio experience. If you want over 100 bhp in this engine about 110 and it is very easy as I have done it, no pay attention.

All you need to do is get the head work done, port, polished, so on, reprofiled cams and a port matched Manifolds which I picked up for £300 exchange. Get the Throttle (Carb and injector) form a 1.8 single point Laguna. Remove the 1.4 throttle, bore the hole out a little bit, doesnt need much and put the 1.8 one in. Get a chip of some sort to matched with these mods and your laughing, I paid £600 and had all this done. The car feels so fast, feels actually faster than a standard 16v. It isnt but it feels it because of the torque.

Just thought I would share this info with you lot.

I own a 1.4lts RTi and Im really into working the engine to the 100hp mark. Dont need more since I want this engine to last till the 1.8lts 16v is ready, which can take 1 year... doing slowly just for the fun of it.

Can you give me precise idea of the changes you made?
post it here or just send me an email

Working the head is no problem. The big problem is the cam, since there is no one in my country that can do it right. damn

port matched manifolds?!
1.8 laguna single point carb/injector must have its manifold? or can it fit on the 1.4 manifold? Must have the ecu has well or can I remap the 1.4 one?

A company called 5 Alive in England did my cam and I was quite impressed with it. You may be able to use the Laguna Inlet manifold, I didnt, just got the Clio one bored out slightly, it is not a hard job and only cost me £30. I got a Superchip for the ECU to make everything run right, pretty easy. Doing the head and the cam, I did not really notice much difference, but when I put the carb/injector in and a chip, it was a flying machine. But I think it was everything together made the difference. I was only 18 at the time too, my car wasted all my pals it was excellent.

kool
can you give the contact of 5 Alive? Dido you get the 1.8 laguna ecu? or just Superchiped the 1.4 ecu?
Im really into working the head, light in somehow the flywheel and remap my ecu.
Has anyone redone the angle of the valves? like from 45º to 30º. (I dont know how to say this, but I mean where the valves close).

P.S.- what about consumption?

Hey Colin did you get the manifolds from 5 Alive as well?

If not who did it for 300 quid?

In total how much did everything cost you and did you do some of the work yourself. If so how difficult was it?

Cheers for any help

Sorry cant remember the contact details for 5 alive. 5 alive did the head and cam, but i tolk the manifold to a local metal work place who bored the hole for me. I fitted the head and the carb/injector myself, not to hard, just watch the timing if your not used to it. I got my ECU superchiped, dont think the laguna ECU would work properly. All in all it cost about £600, which is not bad at all.

i can do all the mentioned head work and manifolds.
