1.4 tce



  1.8 Civic EX
Am I right in thinking Renault have stopped making this engine? If so any idea why? I'm looking at some cars to buy between a 1.4 tce or the 1.5 dci. Both put out 130bhp I believe.

Also any ideas on the difference on running costs? Baring in mind I do approx 10k miles a year, maybe less I don't think I'd get the benefit that the diesel offers over the petrol. Very rarely venture on to motorways etc.

And this maybe a dumb thing to say but both would surely be cheaper to run than the 172?

Not in the megane it's not ;)

Sorry probably confused things as I put it in Clio discussion but it's more of a general Renault question to be honest.

i beleive both the 1.2 tce100 and 1.4 tce are being replaced with the new 1.2 tce115

1.5dci has 65 to 110bhp depending on model, its the 1.6dci that has 130bhp

dci without a doubt 1.2 tce's arn't great on fuel, about the same as a 1.2 16v on fuel but with a bit more power. DCi is leagues ahead in fuel consumption

My 2007 1.2TCE put out 116bhp on Ktec's RR as standard. Apparently the majority of 1.2tce's normally put out more than that Renault state on the book figures (101bhp), Dont be fooled into thinking the new (115bhp) 1.2tce engine will be any different to the standard one being used now.

Thanks to peak torque of 190Nm, a figure worthy of a two-litre powertrain and available from as low as 1,750rpm, the Energy TCe 115 delivers the acceleration and mid-range response expected of a 1.6-litre engine.

  1. Reduced friction: friction-related energy losses have been reduced, meaning that less fuel is required to deliver the same quantity of energy. Other benefits are longer engine life and enhanced robustness.
  2. Variable-rate oil pump: oil pressure is electronically monitored and adjusted as a function of how the engine is being used. The benefit to the customer is lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
  3. Low-friction timing chain: this optimised timing chain is equipped with a hydraulic tensioner which keeps it permanently taut to minimise friction.
  4. Graphite-coated piston skirts DLC: (Diamond Like Carbon) coated cam followers, a technique that has been employed in F1 for some years. Benefits are significantly reduced friction and enhanced energy efficiency for uprated performance and improved fuel consumption.
Direct fuel injection: fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber to optimise efficiency by carefully adapting the strategy as a function of how the engine is being used. The result is improved combustion and, consequently, lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Double cam-phasing

Variable Valve Timing (VVT): combined with an integrated turbo manifold, VVT ensures that maximum torque is available at low engine speeds and across a broad rev-band.

Stop & Start with ultra fast start-up: at a standstill, the system automatically detects the position of each piston and injects fuel into the most favourably-placed cylinder, in the same way as a cyclist presses on the uppermost pedal when pulling away. Re-starting is instantaneous. The energy required for frequent re-starting is recovered during deceleration and braking.

depends in the car, either way the 1.6 dci is the better engine. closely followed by the 1.5 DCi.

turbocharged petrol "eco" engines are ok in theory still got a bit to go yet before they are equaling diesels

i love a dci lump but they just not cost effective anymore ;)

  getting a clio sx
hello im new to this and i was thinking of getting the Renault Clio 1.2 TCE Dynamique Sx and just wanted to know if there worth getting and if i was going to do things ith it eg lower it and things like that would the parts for a mk3 fit ? thanks
