1.6 16v Dynamique & DCi 100

My sister currently owns a 52 plate Fiesta Zetec-S

She can get a very good deal on a new clio (through company) and wants to save a bit of money. So she is planning on selling the ZS and going for a clio.

The 182 are in her plans for the future, but wants either a 1.6 16v or a Dci 100 for a year or so.

Could I have some advice on these cars? I know a bit about the 1.6 but not much in terms of equipment etc.

Any owners of the dci 100??

1.6 16v is not much faster than the 1.4 16v. To be honest she will probably find the DCI 100 to be faster and its a superb engine which returns great MPG.

Yeah i think well go to renault and get a test drive of both. I have heard good things about the dcis

I personally dont see the point in the 1.6 Clio. Just seems to be a bit of a stop gap between the 1.2/1.4s and the Renaultsport models. Its not even a great deal cheaper than the 182s. Its neither fast and nor frugal.

Id be willing to bet that once up and running the DCi 100 is as quick if not quicker than the 1.6. But still gets 60-odd to the gallon at the same time... bit of a no brainer if you ask me....

Dci all the time particularly if she is oing to do any milags.

But what about a 2 yr old 172? Itd be about the same performance as a 182 who save the £ if you can get almost the same car for the same money?

I see your point, but she is only selling the ZS to save herself some money for the time being (she can get a really good deal on new clios)

The dci is sounding a great option

She doesnt do loads of miles but economy is a good thing when trying to save cash. She would prob go for a 182 after the year of having the clio.

How about 65hp dci loads cheaper probably and if you donyt spedn money you cannot loose it.

This is the daftest plan I have heard in ages!

I loved the dci 80 and if I was buying a new car for that sort of money Id get it over the petrol versions. As a way of saving money it does not make economic sense to buy one then sell it after a year. Unless you do massive miles the fuel saving wont cover the losses in depreciation etc. Sure the dci80 did 70mpg compared to 50mpg in my 1.2 but that saving over a year is peanuts with my low mileage.

I would keep the ZS for another year and put the dci money in an ISA and start saving some more ready for a 182.

Failing that flog the ZS and spend £300 on a banger. You can actually get a tidy motor for that money that can do 35 to 40 mpg and of course u just get 3rd party insurance and dont buy any parts. Run it into the ground then scrap it after a year.

I prob need to explain the situation a bit better..

Basically, my sis needs to save a bit more cash. The company her husband works for can get a very good deal on some new cars (the clio being one) but the car would be leased (for a year). Then after that year she would go for a 182 when she can afford it.

I have one and there great fun. Certainly wouldnt change it for a diesel. Having it for 2 years then getting a 182, as unfortunatly im 20 with 1 yrs ncb, so the insurance for the 182 is shocking at the moment.
