1.8 16v brakes ????????

  clio 172
i want to improve the brakes on my 16v.

i want to replace the discs and pads but use the same calipers,

i also wan discs which just fit on with no problems (same size as originals basically)

Any suggestions please

no lol

standard discs and even standard pads are good enough

to get noticable better braking you need bigger discs and/or different calipers.

ok lol my bad.

So what brand and size do u suggest?

basically i have the original phase 1 wheels and still want them to fit over the new discs

I just use the standard set up

They're fine for road use and held up pretty well on track too

One of the most popular set-up's is the brake kit Mark @ Ritchspeed sells. Very cheap compared to most other places and is ideal for running 15"s

you want these but with smaller discs

  The Jinx
Std discs and DS2500 pads. Unless you want some very serious stopping power which you'd only use on track. Then it would be MarkRs Wilwood kit.

Will S - I think I have just messed my pants !!!

I had a standard valver with standard set up, I think I was running ferodo pads & tbh they brakes wern't that great on it !!!

get some Ferodo DS2000 pads off Ebay for the bargain price of £13.99 delivered

you wont get a better pad unless your gonna spend 4x that on them, and they normally retail at about £35 plus delivery

in the last year i have tried numerous combinations of discs and pads from standards, to OMP racing red dot but they all warped within a few months, best set up so far is what i have for the time being, brembo grooved discs and green stuff pads. holding up fine and dont suffer half as much from brake fade as the others. got the brembos of some guy, never used, on ebay for £40, £80 new from GSF and green stuff pads for around £15 again on ebay. look good through my wheels and stop. standards were the worst i went for, lasted 2 months before they warped and the standard pads wore down to half their thickness in this time...
