'10' Number Plates

  TTRS & V50
Just been flicking through private number plates, but ones that are like propper number plates.

And i saw the best the other day on Fabia VRS, which was MY 57 VRS, which is a legal number plate.

Wonder how many Clios with come out with:

CL10 *** ? Would be quality, and no private number plate fee's :)

a 172 could use CL10 LTZ or somethings alike

a 182 could use CL10 LBZ

and finally a 192 could use CL10 LST

A little altering of lenghts of letter etc, could see these look good, but you stand the chance of getting fined.

You wouldn't be able to put a 2010 ('10) plate on a 172 or 182 as it needs to go on a 2010 registered car.

I think the dvla will see the ££££ in their eyes and keep the CL's for non-standard release tbh. I could be wrong.

But, yes, if you bought/registered a clio of some sort in 2010 you may be able to purchase a CL10 plate.

I think you need to read up on private plate legislation tbh

I think not, unless they use it.

51, 02, 52, 03, 53, 04..... see the pattern?????

Yes, and in 2010, they with use '10' :s

192 - what ye olde directory enquiries ?

?

If the Clio is not discontinued by 2010 then we will see some good plates on the new ones!!

Thats what im trying to get at.

slammedsax you said about putting CL10 *** plates on 172s and 182s and that cannot be done. There is also no clio model called a 192

You can't use a plate to make a car appear younger than it is. Therefore, you couldn't put an XX10 plate on any car registered before 1st March 2010. So, unless you buy a 197 now and don't register it for 18 months, you won't be able to put the plate on it.

Plus, LTZ looks nowt like 172, not even without my gogs on!

wouldnt next years be **10 *** then? could put it on a 197?

Stolen after a google search, so can't take credit for knowing this:

2008: Mar - Aug 08 / Sep - Feb 58
2009: 09/59
2010: 10/60
2011: 11/61
2012: 12/62.......

2020: 20/70
2021: 21/71

2030: 30/80
2031: 31/81

2040: 40/90
2041: 41/91

As you can see, a new system will be required by 2050 as the current system was introduced in September 2001 and 51 plate has already been used.

I was meant to put 197, as i wouldn't use a T for a 2 would i, lol.

Mod's could edit first post, so i dont look a keyboard noob. :p

yea i meant couldnt. Your link prooves you can buy an 02 plate, but you cant put that plate on a car registered before 1st March 2002.

Are there any restrictions to the year of registration number I can choose?

  • You can make your vehicle look as old as you wish but you can not make it look newer than it actually is i.e. You cannot put a Y registration number on a T registered vehicle but you could choose any prefix from an A to a T.
