16” or 15” wheels?

Car  E92 M3, BG 182
I’m on standard 182 16” wheels at the moment and just wondering why people drop down to 15’s? I guess tyres are slightly cheaper and wheels are potentially a bit lighter, but I’m more interested in how a drop down to 15’s changes how the car ‘feels’?

Cheers,
Dave

Feels more lively, lighter, more fun.

On standard suspension they look a bit crap. World need springs really.

15's would be my preference for spirited driving... You also get a much bigger range of tyre options, and cheaper tyre prices as well.

However like imprezaworks has said, unless your lowered the 15" wheels can look a little lost in the arches and a touch too small at standard height.

I’m lowered on Eibach Sportlines at the moment but might be looking at coil overs in the near future anyway. If 15’s make for a more fun driving experience sounds like they are for me

Would you keep the rolling diameter the same and use 195/55/15 or 205/50/15, which are both very close to the 205/45/16s?

195/50/15 or 205/50/15 at the most. Don't even entertain a 55 side wall profile as it'll just look utter crap and you'll get no benefits over the 50 profile.

Both images same suspension setup...

Personally prefer how it feels to drive on the 15s...

Another vote for 15" wheels. I always think the cars drives and feels much more lively on 15" wheels. Like others have said better and cheaper tyre choices too. My track car is on coilovers with 15" Pro race wheels.

Yeah I run 16 inch rims with 195/45 tyres as I think 195/50 look a bit balloon like, could run 195/45 x 15 but this would lower the gearing which on a road car I don't want to do. However while temporarily fitting some 15 inch rims with 195/50 tyres (same make/type tyre) I did think it drove better, not massively, but better.
