I am also 18 and currently looking for a valver, which is proving to be very hard at the moment. Anyway iv been driving for one year now and commute to work every day which is 40 miles away and feel i have built up enough experience on the road to drive one. plus i had a shot of my girlfriends dads celica gt for a couple of days and handled that with no problem.

At the moment, elephant quote me £700 TPFT for a valver with me the named driver.:)

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!? or is this you under some elses name i.e. your dads and your a named driver?!

or that quote for your name, your policy?

No I am the policy holder but as soon as i put my grannie and dad on as second and third drivers, it brought it down quite a bit. It also depends where you live i think plus its garaged every night.

I had bought my valver when i was 19,

Insurance was £2200 TPFT (+2 claims, crash and theft)

Had the car 10mins, going round a corner in the wet, put my foot down and LOST IT!!

Spun it in the road and almost had a head on collision with an on coming car and VERY nearly crashed into a parked car!!!

Take me advise and get use to the power and dont get carried away!

.......(three months later a I bought a mitsi FTO!!! hehe)

yeah thanks, made me think a bit more now, not wanting to change till around december and i think i will just see how things go between now and then. i am averaging between 600-700 miles a week, so by that time i will hope fully know if am ready or not. cheers all!
