My dad was driving down to gatwick airport from north wales in the erarly hours of friday morning. He was on the a483 near oswestry accelerating up to speed between the very regular roundabouts when the drivers side front tyre blew. He managed to control the car and come to a stop safely then decdided he would change the wheel himself as he had 5 hours to get 300 miles to gatwick. Got the spare whell out to find that the wheel brace was missing so had to phone aa to come change the wheel at 1 am. Lucky for him they turned up quickly, but it was bad news. Apparently the tracking on the car was so far out that both front tires have worn right down to the white thread stuff on the inside. AA man changed the whel anyway and then put car on trailer to bring it all the way back to our house in wales, getting here at 3 in the morning. Luckilly we had another brand new wheel so that went on other side. Then my dad had to belt it down to gatwick to catch his plane. He was 20 mins late, but got on still. He seemed a bit shook up when he arrived back here to change the wheel though as he was telling me how he had been doin 120+ between roundabouts before this happend.
Ive got the wheel that didnt blow here, and will post a pic later, but if you just looked at the car you would not have seen it, almost full tread on the outside and middle. My dads also been complaining about how the car handles saying the front end goes before the back end, im guessing this could be the reason why.
Anyone got any ideas how much its gonna cost to have tracking out right cos its bloody dangerous.
