16v Cambelt

My Cam belt was changed at 70k and am now on 123khow soon should i get it changed? Is it every 70k? If so should i be safe and get it changed at 130k?

Also if im getting the cam belt changed is it a good idea to get kent/piper uprated cams done at the same time?

What else is a good idea to change to save on labour in the mear future?

Getting uprated cams will require other components as well but it would be a good time to do it all! If youre fitting cams, you will need to fit fit adjustable pulleys so they can be timed properly, probably new followers (esp if theres a strong tappety noise on tickover. You will also need a PBV to increase the fuel pressure that the cams really need. I would also recommend cam belt tensioner and possibly a mapped chip (hillpower) to get the very best out of it all.

u should change the cambelt about every 30k. its not worth the risk if it goes its expensive. trust me lol!

as for cams etc. that requires the head to be opened up and the cams swapped etc. u will be better of with adjustable verniers as well for adjusting the timings, and a pbv as u33db said!

you would be better off getting a unichip thats totally mapped to your car rather than an off the shelf chip as they wont do a great deal. iv had one, and now running standard chip and it runs exactly the same apart from rev limitor is standard :-s Just need to save some pennies for the unichip!

cambelt change shouldnt cost u any more than £120.

if ur having cams etc at the same time you will need about £500+ to spare at least! then the chip on top!

Why every 30k if the book says at 70k?? Or are you just being careful & making sure it doesnt snap?? (Not having a go at you for being careful..just asking)
