16V Gearbox Lifespan

Thinking of moving to throttle bodies next year and im building a list of what will need done/replaced. Obviously an uprated clucth needed but what about the gearbox? My one has done 130k and should be getting on for about 170k by next year - will it be safe to continue with it or will it probably expire soon after that milage?

Hi

you can replace the bearing with a stronger bearing that have an steel ring instead of a plastic ring

but I have drive my with 200 bhp and the gearbox still stong.

if you drive i hard id say it probably wont last till you get the throttle bodies done id change it its defiantely worth doing with that milage

also think about getting an lsd bout 500 quid

Thanks - i thought thatd probably be the answer...probably doing quite well at the moment (130k) going by what ive heard about valver gearboxes....

mine lasted bout 145k about 20k on the 2l didnt last long after a few runs down the strip
