16v gearbox on 1.4 rt

Would i be able to put a 16v gearbox onto a 1.4 rt engine to get a bit better gearing ratio or cant it be done???



If i can, what benefits would i get out of it?

better gearing? I imagine the ratios of the rt were carefully chosen to suit the engine characteristics....get a 16v engine as well might be better and they are cheap enough!
