16V Oil Temp

[low 16v]

Whats temp does your valvers oil run at on a motorway run, cos on sunday mine seemed to be running higher than ever at about 140 degrees.

is this high cos im sure it never used to be that high! wanna sort it before snetterton cos its a long run

any help ill be greatful!

That seems v high to me . Mines usually about 100 pretty much all the time on the oil gauge

Iv had mine over 120 if doing over over 80mph on the motorway for a while or if thrashing the knackers off it for a bit!

It normally sits at about 110 / 120 when razzing it,but it was high on sunday ill have to keep an eye on it. it cools back down quick but i intended on a quick run on sunday being an early morning n all.

Depends on the oil that u are useing!

Mine will sit at 100 deg when giving stick and 80 on normal driving! (using 0W40 Castrol RS)

But when i briefly had some 15W50 from shell in it it was up to 120-140 at high speeds or givin stick and 100 for normal driving!

Never been over 120 deg in any Oil ive used, usually around 80 & 100 on the motorway. Have u got some cheap oil in it?

My Bros willy3 runs 80-90ish normal, 110ish for proper motorway progress (i.e. about a ton for quite a while!)

mine sits just under 100 normal driving, goes up to 120 at 100mph, i noticed the increase in temp when i started using mobil1, wouldnt worry about it too much just keep the oil level topped up!

mine stays about 80 most time, if i am nipping along a bit say 85-90 then it soon comes rises just over 100, but it also does this when sat in traffic jams which would make sense as there is no airflow into the engine bay

Mine sits at 80-90 normal driving, up to 100 on the m/way and 110 if my foots not left the floor for a few minutes!

140 sound incredibly high, Id get it checked out ASAP!

depends if you was drivin it hard or not??mine sits at bout 100 normally

BUT if i give it the biggin it does go up an ive had mine to 140 nearly

AND how accurate is your gauge or mine for that matter

i wouldnt worry

just an idea when was ur last oil change??

cos i had mine done yesterday and its seems to be running cooler now

could try that first b4 sheddin out a load of doller

140 does sound a little high !! But it was hot on sunday !! Dont forget on hot days they do run hotter and due to u being used to the winter reading still, its always a bit scary when it gets hotter and you see the guages reading that bit hotter.

Mine usually settles at about 80 normal driving and about 100-110 on motorways and 120 if im really threshing it in the hot weather !!

Oil change is due in about 1K , it quality ill change it ne way cant do no harm have to see how it runs

shouldent think the hot weather would affect it much at all just that it would get up to temp quicker! mine shows the same as it did on the coldest days in winter

80 for normal driving

100 when thrashin or high speed!

like i said b4 the type of oil is poss the bigest diferance
