16V steering wheel with airbag

I am wanting to remove my standard steering wheel for a nice new momo one, but the original has an airbag in it....has anyone done this b4? what should i do look out for? (apart from the airbag going off in my face)

I removed it and couldnt fit the original boss so refitted it. I have since discovered once you remove the wheel there is a bit behind it you need to remove as well.

disconnect battery and leave for 1/2 and hour to discharge the system before touching the airbag systme and you SHOULD be ok. airbag light will be left on, soon to be part of the MOT, or so i am told

Well, if the airbag goes off, how much to put it back together? Would i need a new steering wheel from renault?

new airbag unit would be required! gulp over £350! i guess

If you are not confident pop down (if you you are local enough) we will swop over your steering wheel, FOC of course.

Ok, so if i get a new steering wheel, what else would i need? a fitting kit?

You say you would do it f.o.c? where are you based? Im in Leeds...

we are in braintree essex, you will need a boss or hub kit, your steering wheel supplier will be able to advise you on parts required.

yup cost me a 10er to have the job done the light for the air bag is on the wheel so no problems there kids, any more advice needed pm me ive had it done,i hate those big bus steering wheels
